I'm all for moving on, but I do have to say this is far from our first "discussion". You might not remember me but we've met online plenty of times. My skepticism of the reports of increased cheating under three telling blows comes from every case I've witnessed running contrary to that. ...

I apologize, it was only your father, not you that used the "squire" title. In any event the sentiment seemed the same to me, perhaps I shouldn't have lumped you together. There's no option to put an accent on the "e" at the end of resume' but I figure you know what I meant. To ...

Perhaps some wanted to be rebels but the game itself was so that people could dress up as knights and fight for the honor of their ladies. It was so that people could involve themselves in a world of victorian honor and chivalry if only for a day to escape the sorrow of the modern world. I'm not sur...

Round and round we go! It will catch on, or it won't. Or it will for some, and not for others, and there will more more "alternate ruleset" tourneys. *shrug* I fail to see why people wishing to see change (for the better in their eyes) constantly are met by "Don't like it? go away an...

You never cease to entertain. I have by no means "lost my taste for SCA fighting". I have been a reformer all my life. One must love our game enough to bother. I honestly think the "experiences" of telling blows are a lot of hearsay and supposition. Every time I've been there an...

My perfect combat system would be SCA rattan rules. Weapon standards would be a little different but not too much. The only change I would desire is that if some victory seeking a$$wipe knew in his heart that he should accept a blow he received but decided to shrug it off God would intervene and the...

Many times over many years many people have had serious injuries occur that ended their ability to continue fighting (at least for the duration of the bout) because they were struck on very real and often far superior modern sport armour with a simple taped up rattan stick. ...

Sounds like others echo my own thoughts about it. Frankly if you would improve your blocking to a point that you rarely if ever got struck in the leg then you would not have issue with fighting from your knees because you would never feel obligated to do so. Saying that this is not the main problem ...

It is though which is kind of the point. Re: no thrusting tips in kingdom tournys

our crown just decreed that no thrusting tips will be allowed in any tourneys during their reign (excpet for spear tourneys). I worked very hard to incorporate thrusting as part of my game, and it really sucks not to be able to fight in any kingdom tourneys because the crown is disallowing them. I ...
