Other than my humor it's an interesting topic. Please provide more evidence of such historical happenings if you know of them. :D

Nah it's not that. Like I said I am all for finding a suitable and more durable material but over the years as we have tested numerous substitutes rattan has still been the ol' standbye. Doing more testing has just made me think of why rattan has been so good to us over the years. My issue is that t...

I wouldn't think that shaving the rattan down does much for its durability either. In any case I am pretty sure that if we wanted to most of us could kill a piece of rattan even faster. Some maybe with a single blow but that is also another fine aspect of rattan. An excessive shot is likely to cause...

As has been said the best training for fighting is fighting. When tired fight some more. I also do a lot of pell work which is for speed, power, endurance and accuracy. When you are tired of that it's time to fight some more. And then fight some more. Maybe some jump rope for cardio and some weights...

What I was gleaning from his post was more that we should have some sort of rule that prevents rhinoing and to an extent we do. According to the rules a rhino cannot exist. It is up to the receiver to determine if a blow is good or not and if he decides nobody can hit him hard enough then it is his...

We can't re write the rules because in order to do so we would have to remove the honor system. The honor system is the beauty of our game. But how can the blows be considered "excessive" if the receiver won't even admit they are valid blows? That, to me, is the problem with your stance. If the opponent refuses to take anything less than an "11", then "11" can't be considered excessive. It is breaking the ...

Rhinos can be Jerks. Rhinos can also be decent folks who just have various problems either mental or armor wise that they just need to fix. You can hit a fighter harder if it will get them to take it and it doesn't feel excessive to you. That works sometimes and can force you to improve your offensi...
