I have never wanted to have sexual relations with a pair of gauntlets before but damn these are amazing.

Stunning Jiri really.

I keep coming back to look at them just because. WOW!

Duncan, I could see that as being annoying but some of it seems to be a "I couldn't use it" type of thing and some of it like "get a bar grill" etc is advantageous for SCA style fighting. "mail is useless" is just a dumb statement but it doesn't sound like a lot of peop...

Heck it's just 8 rivets so you could grind off the backside of them and dish the fleurs slightly and then put it back on. I would think that would take less than an hour to do and the problem would be solved. :D

Kindly show a single instance where I have disparaged your kit, your kit idea for a wolf snout, or anyone elses kit. I take offense at the term Nazi being used lightly, because there are real Nazi's, and Nazi's put to death 10,000,000 people different than them who were in their power and are respo...

You know these terms come into existance due to the way people behave. I see it much like calling a rhino a rhino. It is what it is. If a person doesn't want to be labeled a rhino then they should mind their behavior. Don't want to be called a period nazi? Don't behave like one. It's as simple as th...

I don't know about using a torch for welding. I use a stick welder for everything. No need for explosive gasses though good welding rod can be quite expensive.

Nice helmet. It does look a bit like a cross between a bascinet and a sugarloaf but it's not a bad look. All the helms I ever made were oddities to suit my or my customers desires. If you are happy with it and or the person who is going to wear it is happy with it that's all that matters. Every time...

Really Chef? Please find any postings on this board where someone discouraged someone from getting an authentic rig together because I haven't seen it. I think you might be confusing "don't be a period Nazi" with "Don't dress in period garb" There is a big difference between the ...

For the back I would think you could actually get away with using leather since it isn't a structural portion of the helmet. My thought is that it might be more durable in the long run since the lames, if made from steel, will cause some sheering and rapid deterioration of the lacework. That's just...

Authenticity is nothing to be "concerned" about in the SCA. Praised and appreciated yes but not concerned so much. SCA is not a recreation of the middle ages exactly. We don't have a specified time period we all stick to and there is a lot of wiggle room for what it is you want to depict. ...

Not rose colored glasses chef. Its insulting that you thought I was in some fantasy land about reality. You need to enter the real world Johno. Lets say you had a sister, and she hired a contractor to fix her roof, for $2000. The contractor takes her money, and never fixes her roof, and if she calls up the contractor to ask when it will be fixed, he starts getting defensive, ignores her, or is just p...

I tried the armoring thing fr a while. It is extremely difficult to make it function as a standalone business and I got out of that after only a few months. I wasn't willing to take peoples money for projects I had no time to dedicate to them and while I had some success it was feast or famine. Ther...

Thanks. I will. Another thought about it is taking a stout spear shot to the side of the snout and how much that might twist my neck. I may try to snub the snout a bit to reduce that and maile should also help for the balance and weight to keep it from twisting so much. Lots of things to consider. W...

Coulda, shoulda, woulda made it a movable visor if I had pinned through the ears on the overlay instead of welding it on around the edge of the grill but with the abuse that SCA helms take I hate moving parts. Much of what I learned while making that will help a lot when I go to make the wolf face. ...

They don't really resemble a pig though. No they don't which is probably why they called them hunskull visors. Dog face - wolf face seems like there is some room for a customized "semi" period artpiece there. I will try to make it both awesome and not overly distracting from the period fe...
