It's all good.

For the record Johannes is a huge supporter proponent of History, Chivalry and the SCA. On top of this he also has been supplying quality goods for use in all SCA activities for many years.

He is also a very talented fighter. Hits plenty hard too.

Well previous use of and elimination of punch bucklers and shovel handles suggested otherwise.

Every so often we seem to forget why we eliminated something and then have to start over. It's dumb I say...dumb.

I am surprised how well that old musculata has held up. Still looks great after 9 years of constant use. I like the shoulder mods you made.

Re: Punch bucklers

I cant find any rules in the marshal's handbook against them... Can anyone else? How about a buckler with very short thrusties top and bottom like a mini madu? Really... look through the SCA marshals handbook and let me know... actually I bet if you actually read it... alot more is legal than you e...

What is that like 4 rounds worth? Man I long for the days when our crowns were smaller. It was so much more personal. Everyone familiar with everyone. I think Atenveldts smallest that I can think of was 8 but that was a long time ago.

How come? As an SCA knight I would stronbgly advise you not to do this anywhere near any SCA event of official activity. Because everyone involved would get hosed and not just to put out the flames. Just be sure to soak your tabards in whatever combustible fluid you use for the sticks. That way you won't have any calibration issues. You won't have to worry about the distraction of flaming swords.

And remember to film it for that fail blog

It's stunning the kind of crap people will try to bring onto the field. Even with fairly simple rules they are still sometimes a little too open to interpretation.

It's just easier for the marshals to not have to make a judgment call as to who the "some guys" are. Bolding mine. Just because it's easier doesn't mean it's the better route. I hate the fact that, as a society, we are now living in fear of making a judgment call. There are no visible clu...

It's the "some guys" that is the problem though. It's just easier for the marshals to not have to make a judgment call as to who the "some guys" are. Did they mean to make their stick more firm or was it an innocent attempt to salvage old rattan? It's all speculation so it's just...

Glue gets stiff when it dries. This is the purpose of glue in general. Instead of asking a marshal to make a judgment call it's just easier to use a new stick rather than bending the rules even if only a little and with no malicious intent. This is the point of rules. They should be followed and the...

Thrusting tip padding is not a joke though I bet it would burn for a while and have that napalm effect if ya stab someone with it. They probably weren't good warriors though since they all got themselves killed right? Depends. 1. Did they meet with Philip II a week or two beforehand to discuss important safety issues and arrow type and quantity allowed for the combat archers? 2. Did they, in fact, have swords that were on fire...
