Re: custom basket hilts.
I've made all of my own. My dad and I made a barstock skull hilt that I used for years. I'll post a pic of it sometime. My most recent is a boat cup style stainless steel one. Still getting used to the weight of it but it feels nice and looks pretty good. Ill post a pic of that sometime as well

If it's made of foam you should not need additional foam to make it safe.

If you guys are talking about the buttspike rule I think he clarified with... The intent was to eliminate buttspikes on small weapons that were ridiculous and were causing hilts and gloves and gauntlets to hit people in the face. We also didn't want to eliminate them from small spears, glaives, grea...

I thought weapons over 48" were considered two handed weapons. What weapon do you consider to be a two handed weapon that is shorter than that?

Re: new rules
Which particular restrictions are you asking about that don't make sense your grace? My opinion on it is that most two handed weapons are somewhat unwieldy and improperly balanced to use effectively with one hand. That kind of makes the comparison a moot point but without knowing which particular re...

Re: new rules
If a marshal decides that your interpretation of a rule is cheesy and an attempt to circumvent the rule then yes, they may tell you that wearing surgical gloves is not allowed. Comparing that to a helmet rule is ludicrous at best. Kingdoms may always make rules more strict than society, not baronie...

Re: Jaeger Knives Sword?
Hi All- I've got a sword I bought many years ago with a Jaeger Knives label on the blade. A quick Google search turned up a website for Jaeger Knives, but it really doesn't look like the same type of work. Can anyone tell me anything more about the manufacturer and what I might expect out of the bl...

Re: new rules
The "look" better be one of "acceptance". Actually no. Any lesser marshal such as a kingdom or even baronial marshal can be MORE strict just not less strict. So he could tell you that your glove isn't sufficient but he couldn't let you fight without one no matter what kind of gl...

I just think it's awesome that I actually helped contribute in some way to the rule changes and updates LOL! Excellent! Multiple objective scenarios where tactics and strategy make the difference between victory and defeat.
I also like open fields, or I used to when I didn't mind running full speed in armor around flanks LOL.

Re: What are your least favorite battle types?
My least favorite battles are castle battles because the nature of the battle is calm and patience waiting for the other side to make an error. I like the crash boom bang of battle, but I also like winning and with castle battles the less crash boom bang you do, the more likely it is that your side ...

I fear for the horns man. They can (and probably will) catch on fabrics and other stuff which will likely bend them out to a point where repair is nearly impossible. I learned that stuff the hard way on past projects. It looks damn sexy though! Fantastic job overall.

Don't use electric tape, use friction tape. Bjorn I use the hockey tape. Careful of the really sticky grip tape unless you wear good gloves. I've seen people remove large flaps of skin from their palms from the really sticky tape! Like the entire palm! Not pretty, hurts like hell and takes a long t...

And yet, how many of your opponents are actually stunned? Just curious. Most of them actually. Taking a sword blow from me is not pleasant as I understand it... nor should it be. I hate to say, if you're hitting people hard enough to really "stun" them almost every time you need your card...

Good explanation Max. I agree. A stun is sufficient for our sporting purposes. I'm still gonna hit hard enough to kill though as to leave no question for my opponents.

Fantastic man. Great work and nice lines on the grill. The dremel is cool but hand files are really the way to go once you remove the bulk of the excess weld material. It really doesn't take much longer to use the hand files and you will be happier with the final product. Looking good man really top...

I love giving the right answer the first time and then watching people argue about their interpretation of the rules and the spirit of the rules. Look guys, it's a game. Games have rules and because of this there will always be little minor annoyances that take away from the realism that some seek i...

Re: Legal use of a baskethilt
Using your basket in such a way is not a problem. Keep in mind this is a game and games have specific rules which do detract from the realism of the combat. That is acceptable and could only be a problem based on your personal preference. You may find that trying to fight in such a gaurd does have s...

Skilled butchering. I try to find the largest hunk of meat and cut if off. I don't care what range or style you like to use. I can stand back and snipe, I can counter shoot, I can fight in close or at range. Whatever method needs to be used at any given time. It would be difficult to suggest that I ...
