Re: SCA at an evolutionary cross-roads (A discussion)
Right now in the SCA there is the biggest generational gap I have seen from the older members to the very youngest. Nearly 80% or more of the people of my generation have had kids and few of them are older than 10 so the activities for them are rather limited. Due to the terrible incident with the P...

Course if everyone thinks "Oh, they'll never listen to ME" or figures "Too many people for my opinion to matter" then all we will know for sure is nobody did anything. Just saying. . Too be fair Diglach you must admit that my name is a bit notorious in regards to CA. People who ...

Re: I think I have a fix for CA...
The sca is a whole lot bigger and has far more opinions in it than what is represented here on the AA. Implementation of rules like that would take a year or so IMO since many events already have set schedules and rules etc. It's doable but would not be a fast or easy process exactly.

Re: I think I have a fix for CA...
Actually Diglach some agreement in conversations such as these between both pro and anti CA showing some sort of widespread acceptance of the ideas would go a long way towards making something like that happen. Regardless of what I send in as rule suggestions, if they aren't going to be readily acce...

Re: I think I have a fix for CA...
Armand - Quit being logical. It kills the buzz. . Let's face it, at this point there are so many silly restrictions on it, stupid rules of engagement, no standardized rule set for it from kingdom to kingdom, CA is pretty much a joke. The Archers know it too. What I have been suggesting are some pre...

Re: I think I have a fix for CA...
A question to Johnathan and Balin: Have you considered autocrating a "missile-free" War? It would be a great place for all those who dislike being shot at, and those who like to shoot or be shot at would know well in advance that they needn't be bothered with bringing their gear. Just a t...

He knows but the law of averages is on his side for now.
I'm guessing that until somebody does get killed by a .25" fiberglass rod flying at 30 fps nobody will do much to eliminate them but of course by then it would be too late to contest it.

Not that I have an huge issue with forcing people to do right but still....not my idea of a good time.
I think somebody who is liked by the masses might be better suited to actually make changes like that. I could be wrong about that though.

Re: I think I have a fix for CA...
Hmmm the one I used wasn't modified in any way. It was just a cheap fiberglass bow. It did fire off center to the left a bit but that was easy to compensate for after a couple of shots to figure out the deflection. There are also center fire bows designed specifically for tube ammo. Not sure how goo...

Re: I think I have a fix for CA...
Damn, they also sell tapered silicone plugs that could be stuffed into the end before applying the cap which should make an air tight seal creating a small bubble for some squishyness and solve the tip weight issue. A plug in both ends might make for a well balanced and damn near indestructable arro...

I might kick myself for this but perhaps these might work well for endcaps on the siloflex tubing. Nice rounded surface and brightly colored. part # 208520. A bag of 100 of them is $70. Just checked the site and you can even send a request for samples. m The 1.25" id caps would slip right over ...

The solution is everyone should us a cheap fiberglass BOW, and glue balls on the end so it cant easily get into a helmet, and then people can block with them.

Honestly I think that if I had written the archery rules 15 years ago none of these issues would be present today. It's just too easy to correct IMO. Re: I think I have a fix for CA...
I agree Keegan. I also feel that archers should be able to simply pull a backup weapon and start swinging when closed on. I don't like that we have forced them to be defenseless when the range gap is closed. It only causes more issues. It robs both the archer of his ability to fight and his opponent...

Re: I think I have a fix for CA...
Cheap fiberglass bow. Now it's not as accurate as thin shaft ammo by a stretch but still very doable and effective especially for a skilled archer with a little practice using that kind of ammo. Like anything you need to get used to weapon you are using and learn it's particulars before being able t...

Re: I think I have a fix for CA...
It's not as difficult as some like to say it is. I've done it with the even worse flexible golf tubes that we no longer use and it was pretty easy to hit what I aimed at even for me with no practice to speak of. I did it on a whim one year in one battle and was shocked at how deadly it was.

Shhhhh its all right, but all of the stuff you listed except CA does not directly impact Heavy fighting only CA does that and they demand special rules to be able to do it. First, while I am much in favor of CA sticking around, I never said it was essential to the SCA, I'd rather you not misquote me. You agree that it is difficult to determine intent but you disagree that intentional spear breaking rarely happens. Odd but ok. I'll ask. How do you know? Several of these show direct intent, at best- the remainder show extreme stupidity. 7 spears over how many years and how many wars and how many ...
