And as another newbie; advise that I received from several of the local Heavies... Get yourself to as many fighter practices as possible. Get loaner gear to wear and see if you actually LIKE to be beaten upon. No point in spending a ton of money on armour that you decide you won''t be using afteral...

ive been using a bastard sword, of course i am aware of what i have on my hands so if im facing off against a glaive or another great sword i may be cautious of my hands. im sure the finger gauntlets couldn't hurt. but i have never had an issue. i am also looking into the new zoombang gloves which s...

Re: "Finger kits" for gauntlets

i use them. and as long as you have 1/4 inch of padding they are legal. that said i have encountered far too many marshals who try to say they have to ground out on the weapon to be legal so i took to carrying a copy of the rules to show them when they tried to bounce them. i do have a set of finger...

sounds like douchebaggery to me. i have seen countless onion tops on the field. and as far as it chewing up rattan swords? give me a break. ridges and squared edges found on any helm will be more likely to do damage that that single point. i agree with the rest bump it up to someone who actually kno...

Re: Looking for legal kettle hat/Eisenhut helm for SCA

i see what you are getting at. i dont see any reason it couldn't be done. the only real trick is getting the back of the neck covered. like you said the bevor could work just fine to cover the lower portion of the face you would just need to make sure you had one that covers the back as well. and th...

when i decided to go with a kettle helm i knew for my years in the sca i had 3 options. 1st i could go with somethink like white mountain armory who in my opinion sets the standard for kettles. they make very nice hats but you still have the bargrill to conform to sca conventions. second was somethi...
