I can't imagine under what circumstances a deliberate baskethilt-to-the-face is appropriate on an SCA field. If the dude needed an ass-whuppin', by all means, deliver, just not in that venue. yeah well, like i mentioned before it was a long time ago. and i guess you just had to know this guy or act...

nope
let me just add that the modern kendo do is simply way out of period.
im pretty sure the modern design came about sometime in the early 1900's but dont quote me on that.

oh i meant it.
i seem to have left out some details of the story but he was an ass and had it coming for sure.
i found humor in his complaint simply because he had issues taking shots in the first place.
and like i said it was many years ago and im not really proud of it.

Don't let it rust. Just don't polish the hell out of it, either. Keep it clean. It'll develop a natural, rustless patina that is probably the most accurate for a rank-and-file portrayal. This stuff was expensive for people to afford. You think they just let them rust? I have a hard time believing i...

they are fairly big maybe 21/2" X 3" and there are about 8 all together around the helm.
i cant see the immages from insaneirish but they are actually just the top half of the fleurs and they are attached to the brim itself.
and they definately do not look like strawberry leaves.

I am having a new kettle helmet made and on the bowl there will be fleurs going from the visor up the sides of the bowl. both parts will be blued to match each other. it has been mentioned and ive had the same thought that sombody may think the fleurs represent a coronet. this is not my intention at...

read above.
acording to sca rules the fingers DO NOT have to ground out on the weapon. if they dont they must have a specific amount of padding underneath the plates i believe its 1/8th inch but dont quote me on that right now.
