Re: braies question

Thanks, Signo! I'll go back and take another look at my wrist line, though I indeed do plan to blend the line between hand and cuff, once I've welded them together.

Graham, if my work ends up even looking a fraction as good as yours does, I'll be well pleased with myself. Glad you like the drawings, and I hope to make my gauntlets live up to the plans. Hal, thank you for the inspiration for the tools. I likely wouldn't have figured out a couple of those shapes ...

Well, I figured I'd show these off, since I just finished welding, grinding, and polishing them up tonight. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2737/5859304686_1d882d2faa_z.jpg A set of 8 stakes and one stake holder. Check with the local track team at your city's high school? I actually cribbed my older bro's. :P He was in track way back in high school, and still had a couple of them gathering rust in the shop.

Love the arming coat idea but the wife is not going to let me spend that kind of dosh regardless of how well the legs come out...lol. Then make one! OK, there are still some of the really basic rules about how the upper portion needs to fit to allow your arms to move, but even those change a little bit due to gussets. Its normal, yes. Working the flare hot minimizes flattening back out. Another method is to thin and stretch the flare, by taking a cross-pein and hammering perpendicular to the edge, making a lot of |||||||||||||| marks on the backside, then squeezing the metal between a stake and hammer, smoothing ...
