Same Westland boots, too.
Thank you for the insight on where to cut the arch, so the knots wouldn't be under the metal. :)

Its a far more ambitious project than many of us had, for our first piece.

Ooo, I remember doing this when making jewelry. Die materials: We used small sheets of masonite. If you needed a deeper emboss, you stacked several sheets of masonite, with your die cut out of them. Not good for repeat uses, as the masonite deforms under the pressure, but cheap enough that you can j...

If you set up a spear with a weight and a swing arm and hit a putty/ soft clay target, the 2" tip will go deeper than a 3" tip. You can measure the difference with a depth gauge. This will prove that 2" tips can hit harder (pounds per square inch) than 3" tips. This will not cha...

Its used extensively in jewelry to patina copper-based alloys, which brass is.

You can get it here.

How worn and antiqued are you looking to get? A darkened patina, or more severe, corrosion-type look?

A breastplate doesn't cover from neck to hip in one solid plate. The breast plate covers exactly that - your chest. It ends just under your floating ribs, and above your navel.

Like so.
