Ask, and you shall recieve... As far as I can see, -all- the articulating rivets on these legs are slotted. Only ones that aren't, are for the straps, and rivets. Woot! I guessed correctly. There are several plausible ways to produce the effect that is seen on the effigies. A mail patch could be sewn or laced to the front of a high shoe or low boot. You can see the holes for the peg in the demi's here, and on the back of the greave you can see the hook that the strap loops under.

Hmm...strange. When I looked at this thread a little while ago, there were about 6 responses. Now there's just the one... At any rate, yes, it deforms.
