Re: Anglo Saxon Leather Armour
I'd love to see a Scandinavian saga that specifically mentions leather armour. I did the research on this once (a LONG time ago) There are many mentions of leather protective garments in the sagas Most are cloaks though IIRC there are mentions of jerkins or coats also. All of the pieces in question...

Right on Wulf I dont care about numbers, I prefer to be on the short end of things, it makes for some damned good NSTWW stories:) 6-8 of us 'accidentally' stopped a full on Bloodgaurd charge in one of the battles ....admittedly it was mostly due to a oddly timed hold but it went from "Oh this i...

Re: What was your favorite Pennsic moment?
I had many great moments at Pennsic 1) Fighting (and commanding) along side Nissan in the bridge battle (it might have been the mountain/valley battle, they all blend together) 2) During the same battle an unfortunate stubby Roman was sent to charge into our line (it was short on scutums so a lot of...

You gonna be at Pennsic?
I just checked my Pennsic budget and I can bid as much as $80 on the gauntlets but only if I could pick them up at Pennsic.
I understand if that is not enough or if someone bids more

Yeah I was gonna say, there is nothing 'stock' about a Knotwolf helm (even the ones he calls stock IMO)
Each one has a bit of custom work done to it
I have never seen two that were exactly alike.

At least half the coolness factor of owning a Knotwolf helm is the fact it was MADE by Rich.
My helm is the second most expensive piece of kit I own...and worth EVERY penny IMO.

I'm always afraid to buy one of your helms, Knotwolf. I suck at upkeep, which is why I always buy stainless. The upkeep of a Kn...

Bear in mind that you are going to have a *REALLY* tough time using a consumer machine to sew these pads on, as the runoff outside the actual gel inserts is very narrow. I finally broke down and hand-sewed them onto a tank-top. I doubled the thread, and went back around for a continuous seam on bot...

Re: Searching for the portable longhouse guy
I had considered something similar some years back. A wise man stepped in and told me to consider several things. There are some folks in the UK that have a portable longhouse.
IIRC its the folks of Manaraefen but its been a while since I had regular contact with those folks.
I beleive this is an image of theirs

Hope that helps

These things look so awesome My only issue with them is that the hole the rattan goes thru is quit small and causes alot of premature rattan failure/breakage.
