I can see interest in just the finger sets too
Us early period folks wanting finger gauntlets but not the unsightly (for us) metal cuffs might be a large enough niche to consider:)

A small V gouge and a straight edge can make a convincing joint in plywood. A little creative staining and you can make a plywood shield that looks like a plank shield from a couple feet away. Yeah, Ive done all that before and with my eye I can tell the faked ones This way is much better looking I...

Thanks for the input Finnvarthr! I will add that I used 3/8" Baltic Birch plywood and did not cover the face with linen. Yeah I kinda cheated on this one cause I'm still not convinced that a glued plank shield will stand up to the abuse I want to put this thing thru yet (I'm really trying to hi...

That got old real quick so I started on a new personal shield last week I glue up the birch planks last week and go...

While I am reluctant to admit it, currently I am wearing an old set of EGG armory legs with those gigantic clunky one piece knees.

I have a set of 5 piece articulated steel knees but Im afraid they will eat up the fabric:(

WTB/WTT - simple knee cops

Simple knee cops (to wear as hidden armour) They dont have to be pretty or even steel (aluminum or plastic is ok) I bought a pair of Duke Logan's plastic knees but they wont work for me (Im a bigger fella and they dont quite cover the points of my knees without padding, when I add padding they wont ...

Going for a single cop thing soon, just wondering what yours are made of.

We have been communicating for years and I have yet to meet many whose kit can rival his:)

I got a advanced copy of his upcoming book and I really need to sit down and finish it at some point:)

I hope to meet him in person when I go over the TNBO in 2012

Hmm, as if I need another research project.... Perhaps one way to add some actual depth to this discussion would be for someone to do a forensic study on the remains from various VIKING Age graves and document head wounds? This data set may be totally unuseable though since alot of the graves in que...

Re: Viking helms w cheek pieces

When one further considers the clear existence of cheekplates before the Viking Age, and significant artistic and literary mention afterwards, it seems baseless to suggest that, during the Viking Age, all knowledge of such helmets vanished, only to magically reappear after 1066... . Ok, Ill bite on...

Mord This is the age old debate of whether or not the saga's are useful as documentation (nothing new to you, I or many others) The thing about the saga's is one has to be well read enough to be able to pick the good from the bad. Hell, look to a modern political story on just about any given subjec...

Does anyone that uses the hilts have a problem with snapping the rattan where the stick comes of of the quillion?

That is my only concern.

They look cool as hell and I have been thinking of ways to spice them up to look even cooler.
