Re: Clothing for a 14th century borderer
Zeke, Clothing on either side of the 'border' would be pretty much the same: Undertunic of plain white/natural linen, outer tunic, more colorful, in linen or wool, braeis of white/natural linen, linen or wool split hosen. Color and cut depends on ones station in life. Clothing for the lower classes ...

Re: On Girdle Purses..
Ever looked at Willy Trambones photo albums? I gotta say, this guy rocks!
Look at this one, a find from Healgensholmen, Swedne, dated to the 14th C. http://willy-trambone.io.ua/album168865
And someone elses reconstruction: http://haandkraft.blogspot.com/2008/10/ ... purse.html

Re: On Girdle Purses..
Thanks! I had a lot of fun making this second one. It actually looks about like what I had pictured in my head. I used red cotton cord for the whipstitching, and to give it a little bright color. The binding was a challenge, but an enjoyable one...got easier once I figured it out. It's all chromium ...

Thank you, James. That's the kind of supporting information I was looking for, and near o my own conclusions as well. On Girdle Purses..
Here is one I made. My own pattern, but informed by "Purses in Pieces", and the fantastic work of Willy_Trombone (http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=102476). Supposed to be an early 14th C. girdle purse/belt pouch. Condstructed of English bridle leather, blue 2 oz garment let...

Seen it happen with K-pots in the Army, and those things are built of several thick layers of material. That said, I l...
