Costrel run update part 2

I've had to work some odd hours at my job lately, so not much has been done. However, the good news is that I'm working mids tonight and tomorrow- and since that mostly consists of doing bed checks, I can work on some costrels on the job. I'm planning to sew the sides on two of them tonight. I alrea...

After they've dried (overnight in front of a fan), I warm mine CAREFULLY over the stove and then brush the melted wax on the outside. I then (again, CAREFULLY) re-warm it over the stove to ensure that the wax soaks into the leather. I then wipe off any excess. It usually takes two or three coats. Th...

I use brewer's pitch with a bit of beeswax in it (to cut the stickiness a little). What brewer's pitch are you using? I only ever bought the thermal plastic, and while I found it to be unfortunately brittle, I would have never called it "sticky". With curiousity... AoC I use the pine resi...

I am interested in the spun dome for a loaner helm WT WT, do you have someone in mind for this helm...or are you just getting it to have it in case. If you have some one who needs it, I'll step aside. Michael, If I am indeed first in line for the helm and you have no PM's that contradict my claim A...

Bascinet for sale

I got a helmet from MJ Blazek awhile back. Since then it's just cluttered up my bedroom, and I've realized that I'll never put a visor on it (it needs one). It has a fabric liner and fits a 23" head. I paid $125 plus shipping for it- I'm asking $100 plus shipping. http://home.armourarchive.org/...

Newbie/loaner helm, lamellar, basket hilts FS- WITH PICS!

I recently aquired a box 'o stuff from a guy who used to play SCA but doesn't any more. Inside was some stuff I can use, and some I can't- so it goes up here. I have a basic spuntop helmet for $50. http://home.armourarchive.org/members/thorgrim/Other%20pics/spuntop%201.jpg http://home.armourarchive....

Those who ordered costrels from the run I planned, take heart- your wait is almost over! I cleared up and shipped out my backlog, and construction has begun on the costrels. They've all had the main body cut out and sewn. Three have the basic shape formed, and the rest should be formed tonight and t...
