Another kidney pouch...

Here's a kidney pouch I made from the same deerskin as the pouch in the other thread. It's handsewn with linen thread, and the pewter bits are from Fettered Cock. http://home.armourarchive.org/members/thorgrim/leatherwork%20pics/deerskin%20pouch%201.jpg http://home.armourarchive.org/members/thorgrim...

New style (for me) pouch - NOW AUCTION!!

I recently finished a prototype pouch, based on an historical example. First, I took this purse as a base: http://www.kikirpa.be/www2/cgi-bin/wwwopac.exe?DATABASE=object&LANGUAGE=0&OPAC_URL=&%250=97015 and then added a belt loop and cover for the opening. Here's what I came up with: A sh...

1) Wood core. 2) Risers are added with thin cord. Sometimes they are done with leather, too. (I added a riser to the scabbard with shaped leather, as you will see here a little later. The roped riser on Albion's Brescia is shaped leather.) 3) Leather is skived (the edge is beveled to "almost t...

you up for teaching a class on these guys at pennsic? I would show up for that class and bring you a bottle as an incentive. Possibly... I've been thinking about doing a how-to for the Archive. Fear not, though- I will happily take commissions on these. :D

Hi! Really cool-lookin' toys! One question: Are you fastening the long tabs by just wrapping tape around? Or is there a way to keep the "steel tab" look? Cheers, William I would do it one of two ways: I would either wrap the haft in brown duct tape and then take that up the langets. Then ...

For stiff items I use a light coat of melted beeswax. Gently heat the surface and then brush the melted wax on, then use a soft (that you don't mind getting wax in) to rub it into the leather. For soft items I use neatsfoot oil then Kiwi Leather Lotion.

I have two pollaxe heads ready to ship. They are a glued and sewn together composite of leather and foam- they have the light weight of foam with the durability of leather. My answer to the question was in the thread His Grace referenced. In short, Envirotex isn't classified as food safe so I've given up on making bottels with a heat resistant lining. I've switched to a pine pitch/beeswax mixture to line my stuff. The one mug I've made (in the pics below) was lined wit...

Depending on where you are in Ohio, you might want to give Paulette
Furs a try. They mostly supply the buckskinner and FIW reenactor market. I live nearby, and if I need some deerskin or similar hides I go there exclusively.
