I wasn't able to go to the event last weekend and run it past the Midrealm KEM. Since people seem wary of buying the plastidip coated axe without a KEM SPECIFICALLY approving the construction method, I decided to make one with the traditional duct tape- that should sell.

First, I made the "eye" portion of the head undersized for the haft and forced it over the end of the haft. That puppy is on there tight. Then I drilled through the side of the "eye", through the haft, and through the other side of the eye. I then literally sewed the head to the ...

Another axe from Michael de Buslingthorpe

First off, despite the new name, it's the same person- not an imposter! Herre's my latest creation: a 30 inch from butt to blade tip francisca style axe. The head is made from stacked leather that has been glued and sewn together, with the striking edge padded with foam. Then the whold thing has bee...

Leather 6-panel hat with grey wool trim !!AUCTION!!

Like the title says, here's a brown leather 6 panel hat with grey wool trim. This hat is 100% sewn by hand. It's a bit snug on my 24 1/2 inch head, and is a bit loose on my daughter's 22 inch head. It is also VERY WARM on the ears! http://home.armourarchive.org/members/thorgrim/garb%20pics/Hats/leat...

OOOOooookayyy, so $35 doesn't seem to be what people want to pay for this.
Let's make it an auction then. I'll let it go until noon EST on Wednesday or until I get a bid I like, whichever comes first. Buyer pays shipping.

Who'll start the bidding?

That new version is uber-spiff. You plan on doing anything in a 13th century sort of axe, or a long-ish mace? At least this was only a minor threadjack.... Thanks! Christopher Yep to both. I don't plan to leave anyone out once this gets approved. I fully intend to make a complete line of hafted wea...

Here's an update, for those who are interested: First, I'm planning to show the axe to HG Edmund at Red Dragon on Oct. 16th. Hopefully there won't be any issues. Second, I got the "create your own color" kit and mixed up some grey plastidip. I solved the striking edge issue by leaving the ...

Red wool 4-panel hat with grey wool (fur) trim !!AUCTION!!

While waiting for supplies for a couple projects to get here, I decided to go ahead and finish a project I'd put on the back burner. It's a red wool 4-panel hat with grey wool trim- just the thing to ward off the bitter chill of the fast approaching Winter!. It fits snugly on my 24 1/2 inch head. th...

Spots in my queue available...

In the next few days I'm planning to make a supply run, and supply runs are SOOO much easier if I have an idea of what I'm likely to be making in the near future. With this in mind, I have three open spots in my queue. If you've been thinking about getting a bottel or costrel, or an SCA axe (or just...

From that tutorial- Heat does really bad things to plastidip covered weapons. Leaving them in a hot car or sitting in direct sunlight will ruin them. I read that too. However, my experience has been different. This axe has lived in my car in direct sunlight when I wasn't abusing it- and is none the...

I would strongly recommend that rather than trying to workout a way of doing something that is certainly a grey area, if not worse, you focus on developing technique for getting off good sots in those close quarters without getting into tricks that may or may not be legal and that are definitely of...
