the two costrels on order are getting their endcaps sewn on today, and hopefully will be stuffed to shape and dry tonight. I plan to seal them on Monday, and ship on Wednesday or Friday.

How do you seal the inside? Do you stitch and construct the costrel first? I stitch it with linen thread, then soak it in water and then stuff popcorn inside until I get the shape I want. After it dries I remove the popcorn, heat the leather and then saturate it with melted wax (usually with a pain...

Michael, did you ever get that Tippman Boss that you would have liked? John Nope- still sewing everything by hand. I'm planning to get a machine this year though- I'm making myself a gunbelt for CCW, and let me tell you, doing all those stitches by hand is the very definition of "tedious."

Here's a couple pics of my newest- a 24 oz costrel. It's sealed outside with wax and inside with a pitch/wax mixture. I'm not sure- I got it second-hand and don't know who made it. I do know that I wore it for a couple years and never got hurt-And we don't exactly play tap in the North Oaken Region of the Midrealm. Judging by the heft I'd say 14 guage, but I'm not sure.

The greaves are 11 1/2 inches from the instep to the top. The buckles are the same as the ones on this gorget:

And you're right- the spaulders are mild steel.
