Re: Throwing in the second -blood covered- towel.

OK. I just had this vision of your wife and yourself going hungry. And no axe is worth that. As long as you have food, clothing and shelter, I'll feel better. Stay fed.

Sir Vitus, I will accept the axes, but every time I swing I will envision taking food from your table. Make sure you can eat, please, or I will regret every swing.

Already tried that about a month ago. :(

I will do as you suggest, and just let the matter drop. I pray I'm not dropping Sir Vitus back to the mat. :(

Re: Throwing in the second -blood covered- towel.

Sir Vitus doesn't have to head bang his way through the steel wall if there is a door just within arms reach. Just reach for the door and open it. Pain might be fun, but not everybody likes watching someone get hurt again and again. Sir Vitus, pease don't force me to put the pollaxes up for auction ...

And, it's money that is already gone out of my hands. I won't miss it, but I will miss if Sir Vitus is doing poorly (or worse) and I could do nothing.

I've enjoyed your books and my boots for my light suit are green, in homage to your best work.

Re: Throwing in the second -blood covered- towel.

Sir Vitus, Look at the blood on the towel. It's your blood. You don't have to wobble out there into the ring with two black eyes, bleeding nose and missing teeth. You tossed in the towel. Now it's time to get a hand up to get yourself off the mat. My offer will stand. It would be easier to auction t...

Sir Vitus, consider my payment and the pollaxes a gift. Seriously. You've done your best and I look forward to seeing you on your feet. I know I've offered this before, but I don't think I've received confirmation that my offer was accepted. Please do me the honor of accepting. With thanks, -Aaron

Man, this Facebook thing will take up all the time I have to post or read the political page here. So in that way, it's good. And I'll only be on Facebook on Sundays. If I miss something really important, someone will call me or something.

I took the leap and joined Facebook, purely for the Battle of Nations bit. I'll confine myself to that area of Facebook.

It took something THIS great for me to step across that line I drew.

Re: Team USA 2012 Recognition

I'm upgrading my armour, getting back in shape (the core program I designed while deployed, EVERYDAY...running MWF) and seriously looking at 2014, and now considering 2013.

And yes, stuff like this helps with the motivation.

With thanks,

He could try and compete for the Battle of Nations team. We need good fighters. If he's good enough to be on the team, I think he would have proved his art (some). If he can't get on the team, then he's proved something else.

Nice work Hal!

When I fought Sir Angus for 38 minutes, his vambraces popped out twice (at least) and they had a spring pin. That has always stuck out since as a worry of mine. :(

Re: Will the BoTN change the SCA:s HF game?

BotN might drain away SCA heavy fighters. It is very attractive to me and I know my time is limited. If I make it to get to Poland that's WONDERFUL but I doubt it will happen. I view the trip to Poland as "Crown Tournament". The BotN training has everything I've ever wanted as far as fighting, excep...

Yeah, but if I have an objective and a group who will see me succeed or fail, it helps me train. So I view this as good.

Are you planning on going for the Battle of Nations Team in the DC area?

A 5K run is a little more than 3.1 miles. And for $85 per year my entire family can do ALL the 5K runs on Ft. Meade! I would save $5 if my wife and kids don't want to run... http://www.ftmeademwr.com/events/RunSeries/RunSeries.php But these seven 5K (OK, one is a 10K relay) runs could get me on trac...

Yeah, but to train for the sake of training is to train for failure IMO. With an objective in sight, and a team that could be counting on me, I know I can't slack off, etc... I can forgive myself for slacking but I can't forgive myself for slacking and letting the team down. It's a mental thing, I k...

Re: Atlantic Region (NJ, PA, DE, VA, WV, NC, DC, NY) BOTN

I understand some of the reasoning behind the standard. The nine minute mile is a "battalion run" pace and this morning I was silently singing cadence as I ran. A three mile run, on the track, for time (I'm aiming for sub 9 minute mile) while silently singing cadence has been added to my PT regimen....

Hi, I got on the track this morning and ran 3 miles in 28:41, not in armour. That's passing but I feel rather down about it. Now I'm at 5K feet and that might have an impact but IMO that run time stunk. :( Aaron 3 Mile Run for BotN.jpg Aaron 3 Mile Run for BotN split times.jpg At least I know...

Rattan it is! I did 20 minutes of pell work against the pell this morning in BotN style (hafting encouraged rather than banned) and my rattan staff worked out well. I will work with rattan then.

When the Korean SEALs trained me (and a bunch of Army folks) to be lifeguards, the final exam was 1 hour treading water, while holding a 10 lb weight over your head. My thighs were burning after that exercise.
