Re: Any intrest in my "Carlos the Crusader" helm kit?
The slat back is the easy part.
But if Hal had changes we can do that too.
If Hal has changes then I'd like just a straight face piece so I can drill holes into it for vision for C&T for the two I'm holding onto.

Re: Any intrest in my "Carlos the Crusader" helm kit?
Wish you were still making them; I don't have the tools or space (or skill). I have the tools and space, and urge to build this helm but not the need to wear it. If you can find time to visit my tiny, portable shop (I can bring it to you if you like) we could build it together. Hal, sign me up for ...

To be blunt, Brand wasn't the only flakey armourer who visited the AA. So let's not brand Brand with all the ills of Hammered Wombat, gallon, and others.

Re: Arming Clothes Under the Armour of the Chamberlain of Bu
Thank you Henrik! Now I have some enjoyable research to do. I admit I was hoping for, "Yes, I have a drawing of what the chamberlain wore on that day. And he was nice enough to hand out patterns for his garmets on the day he fought..." ;) I'm very, very lazy. I will get to work on this ASAP! With th...

Re: Arming Clothes Under the Armour of the Chamberlain of Bu
I'm looking to copy that which was worn my the Chamberlain of Burgundy, therefore I'd like to look as if I wore his arming garmets. And I think if I get the clothes right, then the armour will be right. I know it is nonsense but after building and fighting in armour for 16 years I think I need to do...

Arming Clothes Under the Armour of the Chamberlain of Burgan
Hi, It’s time for me to get on track making my dream suit. It has flirted with me since 1998, and I'm still looking forward to the armour's whole-body embrace. I’m older, wiser, fatter, slower and more interested in protection than thinking I’m still young enough to heal quickly. Therefore it is tim...

Re: Ice Falcon's Armor stolen from car in Cali
This almost sounds like a targeted attack. Most perps see armour and just think, "Whatever" but this seems to be someone who knew what they were doing. That doesn't help this situation, but I think when my tonlet armour is done (~2020....) that I'll have a GPS signal built into the helm and another ...

If I returned to California, it would be back home to the Silicon Valley. And nobody can afford property there. Bill Gates lives in Washington State because he can't afford to live in Silicon Valley.

Re: Need Advice for Starting Over Fighting SCA Melee
I would love to return to my alma mater (UC Riverside) for a visit. However I don't expect work to take me there any time soon. Re: Need Advice for Starting Over Fighting SCA Melee
Sir Guy,
I have store credit with Gruber. He would be a good choice. When my family and I visit the inlaws I can visit Gruber and get his advice.
It is not that I have tons of cash to burn but a projected 5 year timeline at even $100 per month comes out to $6K.

Re: Need Advice for Starting Over Fighting SCA Melee
I used to build a lot of armour cheaply and got what I paid for. Therefore I think for a retirement fighting melee suit I'd better budget a tad higher and expect to get 5 to 10 years of use out of the suit. "Cutting edge" technology for SCA armour for 2004 looks odd in 2014, and I expect that my "cu...

My local practice is ~2K miles from where I plan on retiring and fighting. I admit that until my wife decides where we will life, I'm a bit flapping regarding the fighting group. So far it could be almost anywhere (OH, CO, OR, WA, CA, NM, WY, NE....).

Re: Need Advice for Starting Over Fighting SCA Melee
I wasn't looking at going with a light helmet. However I think spring stainless would be best for most of the kit for durability and portablity. The mafia idea is good. I like the angel wing jupon idea too.
Thanks!

Re: Need Advice for Starting Over Fighting SCA Melee
I like the folding armour ideas, and spring stainless. It sounds strange but combat archery might be off the list due to volume and weight. While combat archery armour will fit easily in an ELF, I don't think that the bows and arrows would fit. The modular spear idea sounds great, and fits both 14th...

Do I look good for the camera, even if I’m falling over a hay bale? 2. Protection a. I’ll be in my late 40s by the time I’m back in armour. b. ...
