We have tons of returning troops that are primary sources for situations we had in Operation Enduring Freedom / Operation Iraqi Freedom... ...the book "Black Hawk Down" is a historical reference based on primary sources...could you do the same...and pu...

Employment as a Historian $49K-$62K

Howdy! I just noticed that there will be openings for historians (at a VERY reasonable pay rate) on quite a few Army posts. Almost all Army posts have a Post Historian (or in case of Fort Sam Houston, 2 at the school house, 4 at the museum, etc…), and they are getting to retirement age…in the ne...

Leather-steel articulations are a good place to start learning. Steel to steel articulations is something I’ve mastered only one time. If Lord of the Rings is what you want, I would suggest borrowing the DVDs from the library (inexpensive) and viewing their "how we did this" videos. Slow the video...

Stop "Pict"-ing on those early period peronas!

I could of sworn I saw a painting very close to your "Complete 14th Century Man's Outfit" in an Osprey book about English Archers, in the late 15th Century.

Did the "style" stay around that long? Or has my brain thrown a rod again?

Still, very beautiful stuff.

Gwen, You've always held the banner for authenticity as far as I'm concerned. My only concern is saving up the money to get my wife, then me, outfited with you guys. This will take awhile, but your garb is worth every saved penney. Are some just splitting hairs here on the extreme end of authenticit...

Who made those neat bucklers?

Could you fit a guantlet in them?

Does he or she sell them?

For how much?

Do they have a website?

These pictures ROCK!

The authenticity standard is fantastic!

I loved the Phrygian helm and Sallet (as well as the rest of the suits).

Sir Nigel's (?) klapvisor helm is quite nice.

I especially liked the Evanders' armour (cap-a-pie with buckler and sallet!)!

Thank you!

Seaghnait,

Any update on your armour hunt?

Did you talk to the curator of the Museum? Show him some photos (or video) of a SCA event (the mass-battle videos of Pennsic should do it...) and he'll be facinated enough to help you...I think.

Ask the curators of the museum. Some of those HAVE to be reproductions...I'm guessing that the artists may like to work on a suit again...or have parts just sitting around...

For unique ideas, go the Korean War Museum, next to the Army Post at Yongsong. Korea has been fought over since the Stone Age. The Museum has armour from something like 300 BC to the current age. There was a beautiful suit of scale that I saw, cap-a-pie English Armour from meetings with Europeans, a...

Neil,

Do you want the helm too? It would cost you ~15 pounds worth of shipping.

I really can't take it to Japan with me, and it needs a good home.....possibly a retirement home, but a home regardless.
