It would be nice if C&T doesn't have knee fighting. I plan on doing C&T eventually, and would like if it's a stand up affair.

Oh yes, Clang made some BEAUTIFUL steel roses for me. One became a prize at the Saint Valentine's Day Grand Melee.

It's metaphysical. Just think of it as performance art, clap and throw change until you and the performer are happy. ;) ;) Oh great, now I have a pitbull on my leg. NO! That is NO a fire hyrdrant. NO! It is not the love of your life either! Stop that...my dry cleaning bill will be murder this week. ;)

What historical figure do you most identify with?

Hi,

What historical figure do you most identify with?

Which historical figure do you most admire?

Are they the same?

Why?

Why not?

With respect,

Re: SCA/Mercenary/Boffer groups in the VA/DC/MD area

When I have the time again, I'd mostly like to look at the logistics of the fight. If I can just get five vs. five on the field with SCA/Boffer/Whatever, we can look to see where the blind spots are, where we end up bunching up and tying up our own forces, where does X type of fighter fill in, etc.....

Yep, and at a good price.

This month we bought a freezer, spent a lot of money on armour, etc, excuses...so I'm a bit tapped until 2013 IMO.

BotN National Practice Looks Good

Hi,

I won't be able to go this year, but the Nationals practice looks like a good crew!

PLEASE post photos, pictures, etc...for those of us who are adverse to Facebook!

Re: SCA/Mercenary/Boffer groups in the VA/DC/MD area

1. Good list!

2. Drat. I was looking for troops to at least simulate a 5 vs. 5 team. I'll do my best to get some teams together, but I understand some of the resistance to BotN. There are finanical costs, etc... But why is there a resistance to assistance?

Two sets of 5 tabards for BotN melee practice?

Good Afternoon, Who makes inexpensive tabards for melees teams? This would be "stars" vs "stripes" with one set of tabards in stars, and the other in stripes. Synthetic material is perfectly acceptable, and the craftmanship should be tough and easy to keep on, but not terribly historical. Visible ma...

SCA/Mercenary/Boffer groups in the VA/DC/MD area

Hi, Can someone post links to SCA/Mercenary/Boffer groups in the VA/DC/MD area? I'd like to set up 5 vs. 5 drills, but the finances, time and physical outlay for going to full BotN level seems to be beyond most in the area. But if we have boffers, padding, SCA helmets with limited visiablity, we mig...

Boffer fighting would work. Edward and I fought with boffers, karate helmets and leather bucklers when I was deployed. It was a lot of fun.

Re: And he threw a rising flat snap into his opponent's

OK, it's not really a victory, but it was fun: I still smile at that great Pennsic experience I had. The whole week, I hadn't won a single victory on the battlefield (did OK in the tournaments though IMO), effectively 0 for 1000. But the Knights of the West invited me to run with them, and I was nex...

Re: ACL Team USA National Tourney for 2013 BotN

I'll do my best to get together a "5 vs. 5 Team Tactics Group" together locally. I'm mostly concerned with positioning rather than strikes, etc...so I'll attempt to recruit the boffer fighters, etc...so we can go through tactics. The one-minute drill might work. If I bring food and tabbards ( stars ...

Re: BotN armour.

It's not swordsmanship, it's teamwork. At the BotN practice no sword shot even really felt harder than a standard SCA shot. Possibly even weaker. BUT, being side tackled by someone I was NOT fighting with was what got me out. Yes, sometimes I've had to fight my suit, but this is not the case anymore...

Sometime in December I'll be ordering again from Viking Leathercrafts. Somehow, my beautiful black turnshoes from Viking Leathercrafts disappeared between Albeququerque and Fort Meade. I suspect some TSA agent is running around playing Peter Pan with them. :( But I will be ordering again!

Re: ACL Team USA National Tourney for 2013 BotN

Oh, it is.

I was 0 for 15 (or so) on the field, but it rocked like little else does. Yes, I bounced off the Astroturf, but it rocked. I just need to find a MD/DC/VA team of ten so we can practice tactics. Five heroes vs. a team of five is a slaughter.

Re: 15th c. close salet project for BoTN

I think the salet will survive BotN well. My armet is just stainless, and survived practice well. And I bounced ten to twenty times off the astroturf. The head might not be the primary target. For me, the primary target is the shins with my pollaxe. No contact with the ground, or a shin hooked away,...
