Re: Auction: Franciscan Stoneware
Last bump to get this seen. Top bid is $100. My wife's birthday is tomorrow and sometime tomorrow I'll call the auction closed. NOTE: I wake up at 4:30 AM every day, so it could be early before I make French toast for the birthday breakfast before going to church. And...if you win ALL THREE auctions...

Re: Feeling shots in my 14th Century armour
Eventually you will be able to base it upon feel. With a good friend who is good at calibration, go ahead and cover your eyes with a blindfold (duct tape over the eye area works) and then fight them with the intention of determining good calibration. Go ahead and throw shots and move, dodge and weav...

Re: Feeling shots in my 14th Century armour
Explain first that you might not feel the shot as well as your opponent would like. And you value the esprit de corps and joie de vivre more than any victory, so if they think the blow was good, you will accept it, no questions asked. All that matters is the joy of combat. I’ve found that once my op...

Re: My kids and I made casts of my legs!
I will redo the casts when I can then, if the armourer requests it. As it is, I think that the socks and casting material reflect the hosen and light ShockTech padding I'll be wearing under the greaves. But this is the first time out on this, so I'll take his view, as well as the views here, and mak...

Re: My kids and I made casts of my legs!
Hummmm...I guess I could ask about the Mac Method and see if the armourer would like it in addition to the casts. But with kids as my helpers, I think this is as high-tech as we'll get.

Re: Torvaldr shutting down all on line and custom orders
Look, now you won't have a wait time. If the buzubands you want are done and in the "in stock" area of his website, then you have NO waiting and just have to beat the other people to put in your credit card number in time! This plan Torvaldr has is EXCELLENT IMO and I look forward to seeing product ...

I used industrial veterinary casting tape, available on Amazon. It's used for horses, and is cheap per box.

Re: Torvaldr shutting down all on line and custom orders
Someone said custom items should take three times the price and four times as long, but in my experience a GOOD custom item is three times the price and TEN times as long to complete. It's just harder to make a dream come true. Cue the Impossible Dream sequence!

Re: My kids and I made casts of my legs!
BTW, if you can cut the casts off with scissors, the cast isn't thick enough. That's a lesson learned for us. The metal/leather shears worked OK though.
One knee pad is toast though.

Re: My kids and I made casts of my legs!
Hi, If you can make it to Ft. Meade, MD, I still have old socks with the toes worn out and a second box of casting material, if you need a cast made of a limb. Before I go to BotN 2014, I will need to have my torso armour upgraded, and so someday you'll see a torso cast done by kids. But this time I...

Re: My kids and I made casts of my legs!
Hi, Trying to cut costs, I went with vetrinary casting materials, like used for horses. It wasn't a bad plan IMO, but the casting material itches and you'll need steel wool to get the excess off your hands. The casts aren't bad. They show that my legs are different. And I run every other day and the...

Or casts are Tebowing just like I will after a BotN bout, because I’m very thankful I CAN Tebow after a BotN bout.
The casts are all taped up and ready to ship…as soon as I build a box to fit them put an address on the box, etc….

Hi, Aaron Cast 16.JPG So the next time, we went with a flexed knee and ankle, and doubled the amount of casting material. Then I put socks over the calf and knee pad so that I would not lose the hair on my leg. And the socks simulated the woolen hosen I wear when fighting.
Then while Nicholas soaked the casting material (hint…don’t do that)…

I already feel like tipping him... Here is the photo essay of making casts for full greav...

Hi, My kids and I made casts of my legs last night. And, wow this was a test in trust. Re: Problem with Derek Stiver of Performance Armour?
I wouldn't buy in-stock armour from Performance so my PELL could wear it. His reputation is THAT bad that I would fear for the safety of my pell if my pell wore Performance armour...but I really wouldn't have to worry because the armour would never arrive, so my pell would be safe...but still do NOT...
