(helmet) my suggestion. save this for last and either buy one or get a lot more skill. next. the sode will be easy. as long as you have a drill press and a few fresh bits. powder coat EVERYTHING. Kuza Sari (s...

i wouldnt worry too much. especially if you are heating this with a blow torch to bend it. it will just burn off. id say wash it good before cutting. wash good again after cutting. burn then wash again. should take most of it off. i get my barrels for free and they are full of corrosives before i st...

one more thing

Forgot to mention something of very importance. When figuring out how much you need IE pattern. Be sure to use your weapon to help with this. you want the top of the gauntlet. and the bottom of the gauntlet to make contact with your weapon or just about. millimiters away. when your hand is struck it...

I will get some more pics taken of these when i get home. I am at work right now. Another note. I did articulate the thumb after these pics. was not too hard after doing this. Just cut the existing thumb off and make two thumb lames as per the wisby gantlet. dish them. drill them. lace them. for the...

Thanks for the advice. Thursday I am bringing home another barrel from fight practice. Oh my wife will love me. Definitely going to have to invest in a shop vac for all the plastic bits, Guys it may seem like a good idea at the time. But do not cut or drill any plastic inside. Your wife will kill yo...

For clarification. I was given a loaner helmet that could serve as a base. I want to convert it to make it as japanese as possible. Preferably Zunari. If I can figure out how to do steel rivets I will add some fancy washers and the like. I am trying to keep my costs down as much as possible because ...

Thank you so much for the responses so far. It helps a great deal.

More than you think.

I will play with some patterns more and see what i can come up with.

So with some basic tools I can do this ?

what is the best gauge steel to use for the lames ? and for the visor ?

WOW. That is a fantastic looking conversion. It isnt 100 % perfect. but hey it get us fighting right ? I am not going for perfection either. just really close so I can stop wearing the soup can. OK couple question on this conversion you did. 1) The original helmet curve on the back. Meaning undernea...

Converting Kabuto

Hello. Has anyone done any conversion work ? Specifically I am looking at converting a European Helm (not sure the style as I am a newbie) into a Japanese Kabuto. Anyone have any good advice ? More importantly. One of the things i need to do is some dishing. Never done dishing before. I guess it is ...

knee

I have successfully made knees and gauntlets. Knees. I made them using the Knees from the patterns. real easy. When it came to the cop I used lacing and leather straps on the back side to hold it al in place. I added a piece to go above the knee going up the thigh about 4-5 inches. this was laced an...
