Still, my biggest problem with it was the fact that it would start to draw you in and then violently shatter the illusion of disbelief, hurling you back into the 20th century. Helmets that floated in the water (at least that is what it looked like). Wooden versions of WWII boats (did something like ...

Unless your armour is of a style that may have been covered with leather or fabric in the first place, CoP and Brigs for example, then you are probably better off with a large tunic or perhaps a surcoat. Something that closes on the sides.

It would have at least been a fun movie if it had not kept throwing me out of late 12th century England and into a modern movie seat with gum on the floor. Many movies with glaring inaccuracies make up with it in other areas and draw you in regardless, 13th Warrior for example. I'll probably get it ...

or (C) that the lamellar is Muslim? Are there any examples of lammellar from the late 12th century in England? I will admit that it may be possible that he picked it up elsewhere. But, Occam's Razor suggests that the director figured he would pick up the lamellar in the holy land from a dead muslim.

No Kilkenny, that post was not directed at you. As far as I can see you have been asking for hard data on the rate of success for armour vs the weapons of that time period. (oversimplified, I know) You have not been questioning the usefulness of wearing armour in a battle. I made no attempt to post ...

He decorated or had his armour decorated in his spare time? Isn't it a favorite way to pass the time to modify ones' kit? What better way than to display his country's emblem. Possibly because he was portrayed as a relatively low brow person who spent his free time gambling. Possibly because it was...

I don't know if they word it as such, but counted blows is allowed as long as both fighters agree. And yielding is always allowed.

Just set the number of blows crazy high and fight until one of you yields.

But, I don't know of any rules against submission fighting.

I'm not sure about interstate commerce over the internet, but I'm pretty sure that knife would be illegal (to purchase or sell, but not to own) here in VA.

Even if the deer itself came from another state.

There are accounts that claim that the rhomphaia was used by the Varangians in Constantinople.

That would put it post 988 AD.

Of course, it could be a bad translation too.

Before long, it is done, and you can wash the bag and towel when needed.

I'm curious. As I understand it the rules for padding on the weapon state that they must have 1/2 inch of progressive give without bottoming out.
