How do you deal with the empty space in the conical helmet? Do you stuff it with anything or leave it empty?

For Pete's Sake, the appearance standard we are talking about isn't that high.

A 12 year old with a bed sheet, a pair of scissors, and a roll of duct tape could pass them.

Don't we run into the same problem with fiberglass spear shafts? No way to tell what they are actually made of once they are taped.

I'm sure it can be handled in the same way.

It doesn't have to be a fan or leaf, but it does have to extend far enough to cover the internal point of the knee.

That rule came about shortly after I started. I had to cut a small bit of metal to rivet into my knee cops.

Is this invite only or could you PM me some info?

I usually have to wear an extra large glove and have a bit of empty space at the fingertips.

Any chance these might fit?

Also, is there a queue? Even if it takes 3 days to make your armour, there may be several weeks of backlog to get through first.

Re: Multi-Review: WildArmory, Icefalcon, Stonekeep, Bokalo

The brigandine provides good and relatively authentic body protection. It has negligible padding between you and the plates so it's not legal for SCA fighting by itself - I use a padded kidney belt to provide the additional legal padding required without the extra heat insulation of a full gambeson...

attaching an aventail

I've finally aquired a full aventail to put on my helmet. I'm curious about the best way to attach it. One of the most popular seems to be to sew it onto leather and rivet the leather onto the helmet. As in this picture, which I believe is an Icefalcon piece. m What weight leather works for this? An...

I don't see why you should bother.

The entire purpose of siloflex is to serve as a durable substitute for rattan. A weapon haft shouldn't wear out nearly as quickly as a sword. If you're using it right.

Hafts don't even need to be taped.

Just a thought. People who portray samurai tend to care about their appearance on the field (at least the ones I know do).

Could there be a market for rattan carved in a similar fashion for easterners?

It may be a smaller, but more dedicated niche.
