My problem is that I'll eat anything and I'm surrounded by gormets. Getting back from an event I want to just through any meat product on the grill, apply heat, and drink a good beer. But it seems that everyone else with me wants to slow cook prime cuts of grade A in a rare mushroom sauce for 3 hour...

Pennsic plate and maille tourney

Just took a look at the regulations on the tourney again. It is specifying steel armour. Mine is mostly brass, augmented with steel plates and steel maille. Am I still allowed to participate?

I tend to prefer a stick with some weight on it, but all the power you can generate won't mean anything if the other guy blocks.

You might want to use the lighter stick after all if you find that you just never hit anyone.

Uilleag, you're going to offer finger gauntlets? It would be really nice to be able to fight in a set, but I must admit that the idea of coming up against such powerhouses as Cuan, Logan, and many others while using finger gauntlets is a bit daunting. Any Atlantians out there using them? (I'm not ta...

I wrote a world book for a D&D game I am running. In there is a section on enchanted objects (written from the point of view of an enchanter, so no game math or terminology). I'll copy paste a section of it for you tomorrow.

In SCA we have no horses, cannot punch with the shield, do not need to concern ourselves with the lower leg, have easy access to uniform supplies and materials, and have to build a shield that will conform to our rules and last more than one battle.

I chose eagles because when I joined the SCA the Boy Scouts was still a major part of my life. I was an eagle scout and wanted eagles as part of my arms. However, a bald eagle is not a European creature, and I prefer golden eagles anyway. So I made my eagles gold. The book is because I love to read,...
