It may be that they scheduled CoT and Warriors of History at separate times because they draw a similar breed of fighter and audience.

I just wish he had put up pics like he said he was going to. If I cannot look at the item itself I would at least like a picture.

The lonely mountain helm is gone btw. Damn, 25 bucks was not bad at all.

Ah, but what about those of us who suck at weapon and shield?

Besides, he never said two handed axe specifically. He said axe that suits your persona. Find a one hander, make it, and bring your shield.

This one and the Plate and Maille are my two favorite tourneys.

Now that I have photos, I should be able to send you something for the Warriors of History Website soon.

Master Wulbrand Wiegand (sp?) (East Kingdom) once got a helmet that his nose stuck out of. Needless to say I don't think he used it much.

Of course, at the time he was just a broke college student like the rest of us trying to get whatever armour we could get our hands on.

Odds are I would have been a dead peasant farmer. My persona is that of a Varangian Guardsman in service to Basil II. So I would get paid to carry a big axe, look intmidating, and keep people from killing my lord. However, if my personality affects this at allI doubt who I would have been actually m...

Yes, the lamellar is brass. A little on the heavy side, but the look is worth it.

Since this would be for SCA heavy he would probably use plastic covered over with a couple layers of fabric. That would solve (or at least alliviate) the blunt trauma and moisture problems. For SCA combat armour he isn't worried in the least about authenticity. I'm attempting to temper that with a b...

linen greaves

But, since I won't have access to a means of cleaning it until Monday evening I will hold off on it if it is raining.

yeah, for a while. I got most of it off by putting the sections of maille in a terrycloth bag and letting the bag get the lion's share of the oil off.

Might not have worked for a full bernie, but small sections worked just fine.

AHA! Blackening maille without a torch

All you need is an oven with a self cleaning cycle and a big open space with fans. Like my shop at work. I came in over the weekend to get about 2 hours worth of work done, then spent the better part of the day on this project. I had to use the self cleaning cycle, the max setting on the oven does n...
