Hey Antonio
You can't be telling me that there is no one at Tech who plays D&D anymore. That place used to be geek central.

William, I was just talking with Briana of Skye earlier today who is heading up part of BD's fall Demo. See if you can reach her or Juliana. Drop my name, it may help. Then again if you drop my name with Briana she may laugh at you and hunt me down for the attempt at manipulating her. Setric, nice t...

Thanks. I had it custom made to fit my noggin by Cold Steel Armouries, out of New York (state). I took them a black and white photo from a museum and he sat down and designed the helm with me. that makes me feel better. It is a gorgeous helm. The flaw in the pic looks like the dent you might get fro...

same thing goes with great weapon only tournies or (shudder) shieldless tournies. Ahh, your busting on my favorite types of tournies. I love themed tournies with alternate rules. I like bearpits too, I like to switch weapons every time I have to get out of line. Seriously though, don't you get bore...

1 Most of the people I know who wear maille where leather under it. Some wear plastic, and some go with only a little padding and a kidney belt. 2 I don't do combat archery, but I would use a fiberglass bow so that I wouldn't freak out if it got stepped on and broken. 3 If you are an archer I cannot...

I won't be able to show up. I'm having transportation issues with my car and I'm holding off on bumming a ride until Ice castle. What are you guys talking about "stupid round"? Center grip round shields are so much more fun to play with than heaters! Of course, 2-handers are even more fun. FREE YOUR...

If you are looking at that spot just above the stupid pink sticker it isn’t a dent. It is a flaw in the photograph. There is a slight dent in the helm, put there by one of Duke Ragnar’s lefty squires but that isn’t it. Some of the questions were answered in the email, but Iâ€...

This sounds like a great idea. Though since I cannot document the use of leather for lamellar or for bazubands I may not qualify. 10th century Varangian Rus m m I have to use 2 pictures, the first is without the SCA helmet, and the second is with the helm and gauntlets. I painted the gauntlets flat ...

My turn What were your initial goals? My initial goals were to simply have fun. Nothing more nothing less. Now, I still want to have fun, but I also want to be as accurate to my chosen persona as I can with my armour within SCA regulations and common sense. Was it to become a Squire, Knight, King/Qu...

When I tried to get fencing back in my barony I held a contest. I had a new epee blade donated by triplette and started in September. Each week at practice I would except one formal challenge. If that fencer beat me he or she was awarded a bead. The challenge was due to end at the last practice befo...

I'm not certain on this but I would assume that the information you are looking for would probably vary highly between different nations and time periods. I would suggest narrowing your subject down a little bit, since the squire of an 11th century norman knight probably led a much different life th...

Well he is obviously more concerned about his bits than his legs, but that is understandable. Seriously though, I see no straps or anything. What keeps his right pauldron from falling down onto his arm? The left one might be held up by that chain, but nothing is holding the right one on. Also, how c...

I would think the fantasy environment would affect choice of armour as well. For example, if you were in a world filled with mages and magic just went right through armour without stopping then many warriors might opt for a lighter more manuverable suit. Lots of leather armour or unarmoured folks. I...

quilted and padded armour, request for info
At first I was going to post this on the armour board, but then I decided it belonged here more. At work my boss wants me to arange for a quilt show, I found this info on my computer and would like some verification of a few facts on here. I don't have access at home or I would research it myself. I...
