I was planning to go. Already had crash space lined up and everything. Then my boss told us that we were all working on Saturday and there would be NO exceptions this time (probably directed at me since I was able to get out of the last two work Saturdays). I don't mind working on a Saturday, I just...

Aren't Laminated weapons specifically forbiden by SCA law? I know that is not the kind of laminating they are refering to, but that was the first thing I thought of when I read the title of the thread.

It seems to me that "better" would also depend on the environment.

Being fully covered in steel armour in Europe seemed highly advantageous. However, the same armour in the tropics might have been a severe disadvantage.

Lammellar armour in Saxon England.

Hey guys, it's been a while. Soon I'll have net access at home again I hope. Anyway a friend of mine has been trying to research (and lurking here) to find evidence of lammellar armour used by the saxons (in England) between 1066 and the First Crusade. Can anyone help him out. He would really like f...

It should really disturb us all that the thread on dirty deeds is outstripping this one to such an extent. Andrew, you remember the BD practices don't you? If lower and mid ranked fighters didn't teach, there would be no fighters. If you can't roll the edges try folding them over. I haven't gotten into making metal armour yet, I use leather mostly. But, the few pieces of metal I did years ago had folded edges and it worked fine.

well, that depends on your style of fighting.

for instance, I usually use a double bladed pole, but my buddy says he will never use one. I use the other edge, he consideres it extra weight.

Some people like to use a hook on the back edge. I never tried one.
