I remember going to an event in Meridies one time. I don't leave Atlantia often. In my old Barony we were considered the lightest hitting area in the Kingdom. Too many new people in ill fitting, poorly made gear. The event I went to was in an area of Meridies where they were known to hit hard. In fa...

If I recall correctly (note, I am not a member) the rules for Adrian Empires armour as far as coverage goes is very similar to SCA. 14 guage helm instead of 16, forearm required, larger elbow and knee coverage. Armour is required to be made of "quazi" period materials, ie steel leather ect. modern s...

Yes, but I rarely fight sword and shield, it used to bore me. I prefer 2 handed weapons. However, I have found that I enjoy it a great deal more since I went to a center grip shield and cross guard sword. Technically this should probably be on the weapons board. I didn't think about that when I put ...

As far as I know there is no evidence of carved drinking horns. We have carvings depicting horns being used to drink from, and metal fittings for those horns. But, being organic, horns don't turn up often. The primary "documentation" for the carved horns my laurels sell is..."Hell, they carved and d...

Don't do that, you should cure it with something. Even sanitized the horn is a raw biological product. I have heard bad things about drinking from uncured horns. The coating we used was mineral spirits. It is important to make sure that the stuff is USFD approved. Using a shalac or varnish is bad ne...

Try this m Adric, how long did you let the horn cure before drinking from it It should hang upside down for at least 24 hours, but that finish takes a full 72 hours to cure completely. Of course, that may vary with the brand. My Laurels have been using salad bowl finish for years now with no problem...

I really enjoyed the historical combat series at pennsic. Especially the plate and maille. I also like counted blows tourneys. If they are actively watching for conduct on the field I like Round Robin and bear pit. Of course, these styles can be combined. Nothing wrong with a counted blows round rob...

I was also surprised your guys weren't recognized in court Logan. As far as I know they were the only undefeated team. They did well, I complemented Shay and your other guys on a job well done. I also wish the fighting field had been larger. Six heavies should have more room than two fencers, for sa...

Hmm, I should update that. I'm not teaching anymore. Wild horses couldn't drag me back into that hell hole they call a classroom.
