Re: Making my first polearm
I bought mine at Pennsic in a big sheet. A friend of mine and I split the cost and simply used a band saw to cut the shapes we needed. A simpler method (and cheaper if you only want one) would be to buy the pre cut shapes from "By My Hand". Its pretty much the same stuff. I used contact cement. I fi...

Its the weekend. Most people are out having fun or doing yard work. Try looking under Maciejowski Bible. There is more than one type of helmet depicted, but I am going to assume that you are refering to the flat topped barrel helmet. You can try looking in the "I wanna be" forum http://forums.armour...

I cut the basic shape of my axe out of architectural foam then cut a flat spot on the face of the rattan to attache it so it would not try to roll off the round surface. I glued the foam onto the rattan then secured the foam onto the rattan with some leather, which was also glued to the rattan. Use ...

Nice work.
It looks a little long though. As though the fauld was intended to sit on the hips instead of around the belly.
Could be the camera angle though.

Is that the price of the metal or the price of the cops.
I would be really interested in a set too (if they could fall within my price range).

My tunic sleeves are "mostly" fitted. There is enough room in them to be comfortable, but make it obvious when something is hidden under them.
It ended up being a moot point anyway. I was the only armoured combatant there.

My first thought was that posting a sale in someone else's "for sale" thread was bad form. But, since this thread is so old I guess no harm was done.
Ociennede, what kind of budget do you have? You will find lots of helmets for sale here on the archive, but not many for around $100 bucks.

I'm putting together a Saxon kit based on an SCA coppergate helmet I have. Its going ok, but I ran into one snag and I wanted to see what was suggested. BTW, the kit debuts this upcoming weekend, so ordering something new or supplies to build something new are both out. My local sporting goods store...

How did you work the lacing when the outer ring would have more plates than the inner ring?

I like demi-cuisse, as "archer's lame" is, well, lame. :D I agree. Demi-cuisse has the added advantage of being easier to understand. Easier to type as well if you are not on your 4th or 5th drink of the evening. Not my fault payday happened to coincide with a day off. :) Thank God for spell check.

This is too light and menial to be considered a vow. The next event I will be able to attend will have a Celtic theme, Beltane, in the Shire of Berely Cort, Atlantia. I've tried several things, including wheels.
I keep coming back to a green army duffel bag with backpack straps. Its much easier and faster to simply carry my stuff on my back than wheel a box across gravel and grass clumps.
