armour pic of the day, WHAT THE?!
Got my armour pic yesterday via email and I saw this weird looking helmet. To me it looked like a cervelir (SP), the real early basinet. But it had a small comb across the top. Moreover it was listed as a burgonet, I have never seen one that style, but that is also understandable. What really threw ...

Cold Steel Armoury, web site?
A friend of mine has some gauntlets on order. He ordered them just before I ordered my custom helm. I got my helm several months ago, but he has heard nothing about his gauntlets. I've lost there contact info and so has he.
Anyone know their info or if they have a site?

Leather or a padded coat are good alternatives. I have seen nice brigs made with plates of leather or rawhide that look really nice. What I am wondering is if you are unwilling to go with aluminum then why are you willing to go with titanium? One is just as unperiod as the other. I'm not berating yo...

This weekend we had our annual demo. I was fighting a friend of mine I hadn't had a chance to cross swords with in a while. One of his shots came in very solid, not excessive but quite solid nonetheless. I cried "good!" and fell over. He said "no good, the sword wasn't in my hand when it struck." My...

Thanks guys, since I'm in a college town all of my new people have web access and almost no money. I figured the easy way to do it would be to send out a link to the archive links page and to Gundo's recomendation page. Plus a couple more sites that I know of. M. Matt, I'll be sure to put you on the...

I was under the impression that the fluting would also guide the sword point away from the person and allow it to skitter off the edge. Fluting made the armour stronger without having to increase the weight, but why do that at all if it also made the armour less protective. Might as well use thinner...

No, I wasn't oiling. I didn't think I would need to for aluminum. I'm covering it with canvas. Evenutally I may get some brass work on it and some thin steel bands. But, I'm having trouble finding long thin strips of steel. The only stuff the hardware store has is bar stock and the craft store only ...

saw blades for metal
So I pick up this little jig saw today. This thing is supposed to be able to cut 16 guage steel with the right saw blades. I'm using that till I can save up for a beverly shear or something. Anyway I just needed to cut some aluminum today, so I pick up two packages of two blades each. I went through...
