Brodir, for some reason I can't send stuff to your address. At least not the one the archive lists. Do you have an alternate? Or perhaps I would be able to send it in a reply if you mail me first.

armour pic of the day, WHAT THE?!

Got my armour pic yesterday via email and I saw this weird looking helmet. To me it looked like a cervelir (SP), the real early basinet. But it had a small comb across the top. Moreover it was listed as a burgonet, I have never seen one that style, but that is also understandable. What really threw ...

Ya know Hel, I was expecting your post to say something about all the mundane incursions at Pennsic. A banner would be ok, as long as they made it look right. With all the blatant mundanities at Pennsic already it would be a shame to drop in another.

I am very pleased with my helmet from them, and the service I was given. My friend was concerned because it has been about 2 years now and he hasn't heard. We have lost all of our contact info for them. Anyone have an email or # I can give my friend?

I liked "The Messenger". It was a great movie, would have been a terrible history lesson. Even worse if it was a biography. But a very entertaining movie. "The 13th Warrior" was the same way.

Cold Steel Armoury, web site?

A friend of mine has some gauntlets on order. He ordered them just before I ordered my custom helm. I got my helm several months ago, but he has heard nothing about his gauntlets. I've lost there contact info and so has he.
Anyone know their info or if they have a site?

I think so. My persona wouldn't have had elbow or knee cops. I cover the entire arm and leg harnesses with a tunic and big breeches. Seems acceptable to me.

Leather or a padded coat are good alternatives. I have seen nice brigs made with plates of leather or rawhide that look really nice. What I am wondering is if you are unwilling to go with aluminum then why are you willing to go with titanium? One is just as unperiod as the other. I'm not berating yo...

This weekend we had our annual demo. I was fighting a friend of mine I hadn't had a chance to cross swords with in a while. One of his shots came in very solid, not excessive but quite solid nonetheless. I cried "good!" and fell over. He said "no good, the sword wasn't in my hand when it struck." My...

Truehearth often makes the claim that he is a journeyman armourer. At least that is what he told me. Is that who you are talking about?
By the way, what is his web address anyway? I'm compiling a list for all the new members down here.

I was under the impression that the fluting would also guide the sword point away from the person and allow it to skitter off the edge. Fluting made the armour stronger without having to increase the weight, but why do that at all if it also made the armour less protective. Might as well use thinner...

Reason one why I wear so much armour. Because my persona would have worn as much as he could have gotten (and worn) for a war.

Reason two- several dukes and knights I know here in Atlantia have been known to dent 12 guage. Better my armour than me.

We do a lot of school demos. I'm a sub teacher during the school year.
We usually pound on the shields throwing lots of loud hard telegraphed shots. Fighter a presses a while then B presses back. The real fight usually occures after someone calls the other some sort of name or something.

saw blades for metal

So I pick up this little jig saw today. This thing is supposed to be able to cut 16 guage steel with the right saw blades. I'm using that till I can save up for a beverly shear or something. Anyway I just needed to cut some aluminum today, so I pick up two packages of two blades each. I went through...
