Swamp stick, I'm right across the river from Jamestown but I don't own an English Longbow.
Also, even though I'm close, I don't reside within the county, so it would be $15 for me to get in. I don't want to pay 15 bucks to pull a bow.

Re: Important review of Icefalcon!
Not to take sides, but it's interesting the shirt came damaged, and at the same time his wife has hospital bills. Possibly coincidence, possibly not, but either way, for IceFalcon to take a return after a month, instead of the stated 10 days on the website, seems a nice gesture. I've bought from Ic...

Re: The Mace and SCA combat.
Grant you, I have been in a state of "semi-retirement" since I lost insurance. But, I prefer a mace to a sword. A mace allows shots that are not possible with a SCA sword. It also makes standard shots with and SCA sword slow, so the drawbacks and benefits offset each other to a degree. How much that...

Re: Best looking grill for a helmet
But why didn't historical helmets have them? Was it hard to produce or did it cost too much material? Probably more dangerous to give your opponent something to grab a hold of on your face than to just leave it open. A 15 yard penalty and automatic first down just aren't enough when the other guy i...

I agree with Draven. I don't trust the rating system used to get leather. I would much rather pay a few bucks more and look at the piece in person. But then, I don't make a living from it, so I don't have to buy it that often. Master Sneaulf and Mistress Rossetrude (Atlantia) were very happy dealing...

He might be marshaling at the moment. But that looks like a bargrill helmet. Which makes it heavy legal. So he is a heavy fighter, or borrowing a helm that happens to match his garb.
Occam's Razor suggests he fights heavy.

Re: SCA Dark Ages Helmet - For Sale Again!
I just want to say that the price is a steal.
Its a bit similar to mine, but mine has less brass, fewer rivets, and was made from 14 guage. It was custom 12 years ago and cost me $450.
I wish I could, but even if I had the $ sitting around the helm is too small for me.

On a similar note, I've seen some helmets that use weldable bar stock from the hardware store for helmet grills.
How wide does it have to be if it isn't 1/4 inch thick?
If someone used 3/4 inch wide bar stock, how thick would it need to be to conform with SCA regulations?
