Agreed.
You could also make a jack of plates. You don't see many of those on the field.

Very nice.
I suggest that you blacken the background pieces and leave the skull part and jaw part shiny. That should make the design really pop.

Re: List requirements for West Kingdom March Crown (SCA)
I think, with the exception of the banner, that this should be a requirement for all SCA lists.
Heck, if the banner were made a standard requirement, I still wouldn't be upset. I just make a banner.

Re: Leather Lamellar question
That's about 1/4 inch thick right?
I suppose it can be done, but it is really too thick to be practical. Lammellar overlaps, so most of your armour would end up being 1/2 inch thick and might look ridiculous as well as being heavy.
That said, you wouldn't have to worry about getting hurt.

If so, they are totally wrong for you. You need to get rid of them and ship them to me for...disposal.

A lot of the true oddballs are not legal in SCA.
It does sound like you're talking about SCA combat. Let us know if you are or not.

I've tried putting the armour under my sleeve too. It required a really baggy sleeve.
My new tunics are much more tailored, so the armour must go on the outside.

This one is called the "Dominican" belt. It is from 15th century France.
I've already got the tippet carved. I got some mammoth ivory a while back and made that.
It looks different from this one though.

Thank you for the offer BoneCarver, but this is as much a project to work on as it is a product to keep.
I've done two pieces of ivory so far. One engraved and the other carved.
I've also done a lot of leather, a fair bit of horn, and some antler. I haven't worked bone yet.

I don't think I have ever seen a pommel spike on any weapon designed for use in one hand. The exception being the madu/short double ended spear/double ended javelin/baby polearm.
I know they exist, but I've never seen one. Am I blind, or are they just not that common?

Ivory belt plaques
I have an entire box of early 20th century piano keys that are covered in ivory. Its legal, I checked. They are real ivory, I had that checked too. I'm not sure what I could do with them. They are thin and rectangular and I thought about putting them on a belt with some light carving or engraving. I...

How long do you have to leave yours to dry? Apparently overnight is not long enough.
Tooling is the fun part. I want to make stitching go faster, then burn it out of my brain so I don't remember it afterwards.
