Really? I had one with the second door, and if I got another I would get a solid back.
The second door was a pain in the rear.

Agreed. Even second hand a "real" one will not be cheap.
If you were wealthy and unemployed then you might consider it cheap, but I doubt it.

Re: Preference in opponents's weapon style?
I get bored fighting sword and shield. Not to say that I'm so great that it is boring or anything like that, just that I prefer great weapons. Now, I admit that some of the most fun fights I have ever had were against a matched great weapon, but I don't want my opponent to feel obligated in any way ...

Unless they have expanded, in the past few years it really isn't all that great for researching medieval armour.
That is, assuming he is a student. Not at all an unreasonable assumption.

Re: Icefalcon Arming Cote Review(s)
I got mine in the mail yesterday. I first tried it without a shirt. It was a bit too warm when I first put it on. I did not have the AC running but it was nowhere near pennsic hot. The chest fit fine, it was a little snug in the bicep and elbow region. So, then I got my underarmour shirt out and tri...

Re: Legal tips on fiberglass spear shafts
The OP has changed since I made my post.
With experimental weapons, is it possible for them to be legal in one scenario or tourney of an event and illegal in another?
For example, not legal in the grande melee but legal in the great weapons tourney following afterwards.

There really isn't any difference between your fingertip in that situation, an awl pike, and a needle. It is simply a matter of scale. And I'm sure that we can all agree that finding loopholes in a web forum discussion, and trying to put those loopholes into practice on the field or at inspection point are two different things.
Besides, I thought my helmet of shame was funny.
