Re: Legal fist weapons?

The same reason they don't allow kicking or grappling in boxing. Its not part of the sport. Asking why the rules are the way they are is like asking "Why can't the rook move in diagonals, or why can't the bishops move straight." You are welcome to try to change the rule, but until then the...

Re: Fighting outside the field at Pennsic

I don't think so.

From what I was told they had a problem with people fighting in camp. So now the only fighting is on the field.

Re: What is the appeal of "Early Period?"

Why do some people like broccoli and some people hate it?

Because some people have a genetic trait that allows them to taste an incredibly bitter substance found naturally in broccoli, other people lack that trait and do not taste any bitterness at all.

I like broccoli.

Re: What is the appeal of "Early Period?"

No, it is not. Actually, it is more difficult to do correctly. It is only easier to half-ass it, but it is a bear to do it correctly. Ask guys who do high end kits of the earlier eras. This. It would have been a lot easier for me to go 14th century. Personally I prefer the art and style of the earl...

Re: lamellar is now available for order at 20% off BRASS TOO

Your Grace, when I put together my lamellar I had a heck of a time finding red paracord. I don't know what other colors are out there, but that is one option at least.

I never found red paracord, I got something else that was much more expensive and not nearly as durable.

I would like nothing better than to compete in the thirty, but my suit is a few hundred years too early.

Plus, I think I may be a bit outclassed in the fighting.

Re: Minimum Armor Standards

Torso and arms? Heavy leather, no padding required.

That is what I wear in melees, when I'm going to do a lot of running around.

The armour I wear in tourney is much heavier for persona reasons, not safety.

links to sites that sell rattan

One of the local guys can't make it to many events and was hoping I could tell him a few sites to buy rattan for practice. I usually just buy at an event so I can pick out my own piece. I've never really looked online for rattan. I know Icefalcon and Baron Erik both sell rattan, can anyone else post...

I felt so under-dressed last year.

I dress for a meeting with fellow armour geeks at a coffee shop and I end up in a fancy venetian villa for a housewarming party.

The house is awesome. I can't believe you are making improvements.

So its basically an ablative padding. Protecting you by absorbing the force and shattering so your head doesn't.

Is that it?

Linen Garb hood review

I just got the hoods I ordered from Linen Garb. Wow, they are nicer than I expected. I was expecting them to be a single layer with french seams, like the tunics. They are dang near reversible. They would be if I cut out the tag. Seams are strong, stitching is good. The fabric seems durable. Quality...

Its a reasonable conclusion to jump to though. The discussion is on Icefalcon tips, not Mandrake tips. Sir Omarad discussed it with Duke Icefalcon the evening of March 6 and decided they could be used experimentally with some adjustments. Blackbow stated on March 10 that he got hit with one "la...
