The Churburg side plates are riveted to the center of the center plate, but ther is enough room to rivet them on towards the edges as well.

Warren-- cut the leather with a bandsaw--that's what saved my hands.

And after cutting helm tops and such for 2 or three days a week, in addition to all my other work, I now have tendonitious in my right elbow. Hurts like a bear, but a shot of cortisone stops the pain in minutes.
