The seax of Badger...finished and for sale

I have finally finished this long, drawn out project. Progress is here: http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=164631&p=2499425&hilit=badger+seax#p2499425 I think it would have taken less time if I hadn't gotten stubborn about finding just the right grip material. In this case, a...

Ironbadger rondel dagger auction for October-Ended

This month's rondel dagger is now ended. Its also the last of my horded steel stash, so now I must find more before I can make rondel daggers again. Anyway. Carbon steel, 3/16th stock. Single edged, as sharp as you can make these icepick daggers without weakening the blade too much. (It will do basi...

Re: Hermann Historica Helmet, Real or Fake?

I'll have to look later, Mac. I did not find it on a quick search, so I'll have to think a while about what thread it was in. I'm under some deadline pressure for another day or two though, so I can't devote much time to it at the moment. (Checking in on email and such during rest breaks.) Might hav...

Re: Hermann Historica Helmet, Real or Fake?

Mac- I do not remember seeing the original written document; only a mention of it in an older posting. And now that I think on it, I cannot recall whether it was an ordnance against the sale of painted- or cloth covered helms or armour. I mentioned it because the post referred to substandard armour ...

Re: Hermann Historica Helmet, Real or Fake?

That was my first thought. A helmet made by a blacksmith instead of a real armourer. There was a mention somewhere a while back on the forum about a law passed in England to outlaw the sale of painted helmets, because of a bunch of crappy ones made by non guild smiths or blacksmiths, that were britt...

Re: Wanted: Mythical Empowerment

Yeah, I'm afraid $2000 is around what I would charge at a minimum for something like that. Probably more, as I would have to farm out the casting work...Or else try to carve the bits from large pieces of barstock. I have done that before, but its literally weeks of work for each piece. The point abo...

Re: Latest score: B3 for $95, need rust removal advice.

CLP break free rather than WD40.
(The stuff you buy to lube guns.)

CLP penetrates and actually loosens rust in my experience.
WD40 is just a moisture displacing solution.

I have yet to find anything rusted so badly that CLP would not free it, if soaked down and allowed to set a while.

Something like this will work fine for anvil duty. http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-00-Steel-Hot-Rolled-Round-8620-X-1-04-/271226506267?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f265c0c1b Check this guy's store- he has many scraps of steel for cheap, in many sizes and alloys, and I've bought from him before. -Badger-

I've done quite a bit of ABS vacuforming and flat sheet fabrication for costuming and props. For rapier? Thats a good way to get seriously hurt in anything less than about a quarter inch thickness. And in that thickness, it will be a royal bitch to heatform without it either catching fire, or curlin...

Auction is ended. Shipping is $15 to US addresses, and I completely forgot to mention it, like a moron.... Another just finished knife. Small seax auction for September-ended.

Auction is ended. Just completed small seax. From my rapidly disappearing stock of antique, 100 year old carbon steel. The pitted surface was left on the spine to give it a blacksmithed look and feel. Blade a hair over 6 inches, a bit over 10 1/4 inches overall length. 1/8th inch thick stock, razor ...

Okay, so a live fire version that can shoot real bolts? Trickier- Since most crossbows for sale here are for SCA combat, and made completely differently from a historical crossbow. Re: Brimmed Bascinet-Am I seeing this right?

To me, the illustrations appear to be badly drawn houndskull bascinet visors. The helmet listed is one I have seen before, with text in an article mentioning that it was an older bascinet reused and with a bill added at a later date. That same article mentioned that cheap armor in later centuries wa...
