Re: Badger's knife list fall 2014..What are you looking for?
I may do another baselard at some point. I did make a ballock dagger before, but there was little interest in it. It doesn't seem to be a popular choice among SCA folks, despite being the nearly universal dagger/knife carried by almost every man in northern Europe for at least two centuries. That, a...

Re: Badger's knife list fall 2014..What are you looking for?
I have had an idea to make a folder for a while. Mostly, its been materials and time thats held that up. I have two separate designs I want to do- Both period, both Norse. One is the little two bladed one with the bone grips that gets a lot of attention in various reenactor forums. The other is the ...

I have several choices for wood in my boxes just now. Haldan- The upper one is that Norse folder with two blades, right? I have some other images of it, and I've been thinking of making one for a while. The biggest obstacle has been materials for the scales; Bone would be best, and I have not gotten around to looking for bone scales yet. (Had a lot on ...

Badger's knife list fall 2014..What are you looking for?
I'm caught up on knives for the moment, and making my next list of what to offer for sale. So far, the list includes a Russian styled kindjal, a Frankish seax and possibly a sword hilted/crusader era dagger. I have just about finished 3 middling sized broken back seaxes that will be up for sale some...

Re: who sells feast gear?
I make small eating knives and prickers.
I have some steel suitable for 14th century eating knives, and two prickers already roughed out sitting on my workbench.
The deadline is easy for me, and I can do October for delivery.
PM me if interested, and we can work out the details.

I know- Its harbor freight.
But I use them, and they do last a few years.
They have or had one with longer shafts than this at both locations I go to, but I can't seem to find it on the site.

Colt, Remington or other style?
("1865" can cover several specific revolvers.)

Yeah, since I'm planning on a Polish Hussar ensemble myself, its something I have given quite a bit of thought to. :D I've started patterning the spalders so far, but haven't had time to work out the anime breastplate. Re: Thick realistic leopard fur?
Theres some patterned fur around that might do- But because its printed on 45 to 72 inch wide fabric, it tends to look like printed fabric when you use it for large things like cloaks. I've used patterned fake fur for Napoleonic helmet bands. At so small a scale, its print pattern isn't so glaring. ...

That looks almost exactly like the 18 gauge Indian import bascinet I have lying around, minus visor.

I think I'd be cautious about buying that.

You only need to heat the last inch or so of tang for about 90% of the burn. Just waggle it about as you go to open up the hole. An old knifemaker's trick for drilling a grip blank is to take a sharpie, and mark a vertical cross across the end to help line up the drill top to bottom, and side to side. You just make sure the shaft of the drill bit stays lined up with the lines in the directions you can see while drilling. I dr...

Out of curiosity. Are you using 18 gauge for the buckle plates, or thinner? I was about to say glover's needles. Best thing for leatherwork. Even if you punch with an awl before stitching. Grew up using them in my grandfather's taxidermy shop. Avoid the needle packs at craft stores or walmart if you can, because the faceted needles in them are badly made. I just buy packs o...

I based the tiller shape on several original crossbow illustrations, some SCA crossbows, and a number of museum exhibits from books I have. I'll reduce the price on this to $160 and shipping.
It will be sharpened before shipping, by the way- I have other projects currently, and will sharpen when theres a buyer.
(Take maybe 15 minutes...Its already sharp enough for basic cutting work.)

Not an auction. Goes to whomever claims it first. Available till it sells. About 12 3/4 inches of blade, about 17 1/2 inches overall. A big handful of razor sharp steel.
