Any interest in rondel daggers?
I have an unfinished rondel dagger lying around in the shop. I'm reluctant to put the work into finishing it unless theres some folks looking for one though. (I'm running short on knifemaking supplies, and need to restock. So I am down to picking and choosing what I make next to sell.) So. Anyone lo...

Re: Questions about Rivets
Small numbers of rivets suitable for making a helmet can be found on Ebay. (Usually in increments of 25 or 50.) If you are only looking for enough for a single project, its worth it. But not if you plan to do a lot of armouring. Then you want to buy in one pound or larger boxes from a regular suppli...

7 inches by 4 inches? If thats a JoAnn's inch grid cutting sheet they are lying on, they are that large. Hmm... Thats pretty large. Typical plates on most lamellar I'm familiar with are more like 2 1/2 or 3 inches long, and maybe an inch to an inch and a quarter wide. (Yes, theres a lot of variation...

Re: Late 14th ct english knight kit Maryland
This is a pretty straightforward late 14th century harness. Being the case, most of the armourers here can make such a thing, because its the main style we work in. :) However. To get a good, accurate and well fitted harness for your self in this style will cost some serious cash. A price range itse...

Re: Any interest in a red velvet and canvas COP shell?
Hmm. Could you define "mock up" for me please? If I were to make a full size version of the shell, I might as well make the full thing, as "cheap fabric" doesn't exist for me locally anymore. (Cheap enough that I could make a model in throwaway stuff.) Drawings I could do, if those might help. I sho...

Okay, I could not tell that from the pic provided. It looks frankly like sheet metal lathe spun to me. (The way Romans made helmets.) Do you mean its two halves divided horizontally, or vertically? If its vertical, the seams are not visible from the pic. If its horizontal... I still maintain its lat...

In my opinion, you should talk to a machinist with a lathe.
The original looks like it was turned due to its very regular shape.
It would be easier to make by turning it from round stock than trying to forge from sheet or plate.
Just my two cents worth, brother.

Any interest in a red velvet and canvas COP shell?
I scored some wine red upholstery velvet, a couple yards of a canvas material that will make a good lining, and thought I might see if theres any interest in a sewn and ready to rivet coat of plates shell? I'm a 46 chest/40 waist and stand 5 foot 10 inches tall. So I'd be sizing this generously for ...

I'd say its at the very low end of the spectrum for a sugarloaf, Axe. Considering that the usual price I see for nice looking ones is closer to $300, on average. Sold- I completely forgot to update. A broken back seax of the needlepoint pattern. Blade is made from 3/16ths inch carbon steel, from an antique circular saw blade. The pitting has been left on the spine to give it a handmade look. The rest is rough mirror polished and razor sharp. "Architectural b...

Absolutely. I grew up in a family business in which I learned sewing by hand as a child. So for me, sewing was just a skill everyone in the family had, and I never saw it as unusual. It was a bit of culture shock when I discovered that few people nowadays can sew, or understand why its important. Th...
