I'm not the best one to ask but... hears what I know..., somebody correct me if I'm wrong Dishing is when you hammer the metal over a bowl shape like object, like a dishing stump. Raising is when you force the metal down over a ball stake. Raising is better because you have more control over the thi...

No Problem, The HF shears are plenty durable though, Youd be better off getting one and spending the rest of your 5-6 hundred dollars youll spend on a B2, on a Grizzly 2X72 belt sander, then you could cut metal AND finish it for the same money Have a good weekend Pitbull Haha thats funny my cousin ...

So I want something that will last, and I'm not going to trust HF for that Sorry but no thanks PB. But I do understand you...

Re: Linseed oil to protect mild steel maille?
Why wouldn't one use linseed oil, raw or boiled to protect maille? Boiled would dry out and form a hard film, that could be retouched periodically with more boiled linseed oil... Has anyone tried this on mild steel? Glaukos Super sticky dude. I was just using it a couple weeks back. I bet just tryi...

Fluid Film on mail???
I'm pretty sure it will be ok if I use FF on my mail but just wanted to make sure before I actually spray it. Just wondered if you guys had any comments about using FF.
Don't try to make me to use WD-40 because I've heard I shouldn't use it.
Thanks for your time.

The big thing to remember is that there has been an inversion: Historically, the material was expensive, and labor was cheap. Today, the material is plentiful, but labor is expensive as hell. You know I'm wondering how expensive it was back then. I just spent $203 on 15,000 rings and rivets which i...

So if you were a gladiator back in the day and you were going to battle a guy and the only armor they provided was a butted hauberk weighing 25lb and you were fighting a guy with a one handed sword, would you take the butted mail, or no? Its going to give you some protection but is it worth the weig...

Question about horse hairs on helms... who wore them?
I'm making a circa.700 to 800 viking/Norse/Icelandic/ etc.... persona. Haven't nailed down who I want to recreate but......I had this question. Do any sort of Viking/Saxon/Icelandic/Norse warriors wear horse hairs on there helmets? If no would I look silly wearing one with a Hersir or Huscarl person...
