It has a canvas outer shell and 100% cotton filler with a linen liner. 4 layers of cotton on the shoulders and across the kidneys, 2 layers everywhere else.

i say fight in what you have...whether it looks like complete ass or whether it looks like 100% historically accurate. Either way you have to fight to get better.

thank you Cisco. I really want my armor to look as historical as possible. one of these days i will have my ideal kit of either welded or riveted maille, a nice pair of gauntlets, a sword with a cross hilt and pommel, center grip teardrop or round shield, and a more Russian styled helm. All goals i ...

well as far as basket hilts in SCA i kinda see it as a necessary evil. I would love to be able to have a 100% historically accurate kit that fits me like a glove, but i can't really afford caviar on a burger king budget. not everyone can afford a kit that will look period and also be safe for SCA fi...

i have access to a stainless sink and i was wondering how good the metal from it would be for knee cops and other smaller armor pieces. Anyone ever used old ss sinks? if so how well did the armor hold up? How hard is the metal to cut or dish? got any pics of armor made from sink material? thanks, Va...

Bassinet's are the most common for avintails. Though some klapvisors also had them as well as several indo-persian/orintal helms. another option may be to use a false coif attaching the mantal directly to a coif, hood, or liripipe without the tail. m You could easily add pockets for padding and pla...
