well i want a helm that looks similar to this one and want my kit to eventually look a lot more like this one.

and i just threw on the helm for the pic so i'm sure it is not on all the way, but it does have a pretty high dome on it.

well i still have a long way to go with the helm but i am planning on working on that in the near future. as far as a time period i am trying to go for Russian around the late 1400's to the early 1500's. What kind of belt would you suggest? I have the means of making one just need to know more about...

well the helmet does have its fair share of dents and dings but they are hidden pretty well with the gold paint. i plan on welding up the holes and smoothing them down. then i am going to make it look more like a spangen helm, give it a new nasal, and blacken it. thanks for all the tips on the paddi...

pattern help?

anybody have a pattern or a link to a pattern for a padded helmet liner? I am wanting to line my SCA helmet and make it not look like i have foam just taped inside it. there was a guy on eBay one time that sold the padded liners but for some reason he has stopped selling them and i can't even find a...

thank you very much! I am actually working on it a bit more. some of the maille binds when i try to put it on so i am trying to expand it a bit around the bottom so that it goes on a little better. this was my second time to fight in the SCA at a demo. Having an actual bridge to battle on instead of hay bails makes for one hell of a fun fight.

well after today's fighting and authorization i have come to realize that the 6-1 maille holds up great but i am going to have to split it down both sides so that it doesn't bunch up when i try to put my helmet on. well my next improvement on the helm is to change the nasal piece and to make the helm look more like a spangenhelm. Then i am going to blast it and oil blacken it.

Yes the heat is miserable around here. Heat index in Searcy, where I work was 108 today. It sucks when you start sweating the minute you walk out the door.
