I have been using a friends off and on for about 4 months or so. Went over the other day to make a leather burnisher and we happened to find a lathe for sale o...

Very cool (not that i'm partial to my knight or anything)
I can't remember who wrote it or where exactly it was, but someone has written a song already about this whole ordeal. Pretty awesome stuff, one more reason to love the SCA and its people.

Re: 2013....Show us your kits --part Deux--
Sans helmet and gauntlets I completely tore down the lamellar and rebuilt it and made new leg armour. I'm thinking of making new greaves and shaping them (I didn't make these) and adding some splints. http://www.bogpages.com/SCA-photographs/2013/The-Coronation-of-Amos-and/i-xr3XkgM/1/XL/IMG_5568-XL...

Yes. I am in fact from the giant metropolis of Bald Knob. About an hour northeast of Little Rock. Blink and you might just miss it. Lolmuttman wrote:Also, I just noticed you are from a place called "Bald Knob"

Re: Gleann Abhann Spring Crown List
I'm thinking next time we include the list field in our odds for victory run down. Very true. it was scary at times. I really hope i haven't started a trend here with the whole messed up knee thing. Hope all those who were hobbled, heal up quickly and that they will be back out ASAP. Also congrats ...

Re: How to hide modern shoes...?
I had a go and whipped up a prototype padded overboot which kind of blends in with my existing padded hose. The leather greave (soon to be splinted) hides the transition a little better. Ignore the sticky tape. I'll mount a nice adjustable leather strap eventually. What do you reckon? https://lh5.g...

I'm interested, but they may be a little big for me - if I buy the 2nd pair and it turns out they're too big, could I trade them back in for a smaller pair (all shipping both ways on me, and no worries about wait time for the new custom pair)? sure! :) honestly if you want you can just mail me some...

Re: low profile half gauntlets. (ACL down time sale)
I have to ask: How do you sew the plates on to the glove? Did you take the glove apart first, or is this some new stitching magic??? they are all hand stitched with a very old stitching awl. basically everything is saddle stitched on. the gloves are never taken apart though. the awl i use is great ...

low profile half gauntlets. (ACL down time sale)
So while i have been down with my ACL problems i have been trying to make some armor in my spare time to help with paying bills, in between PT and house work. For now i have two pair of my low profile half gauntlets (patterned after Greenshield's half gauntlets). There is padding sewn into the glove...

That particular one is one piece. It is basically a period(ish) pattern just made large enough to go over a slip on shoe.

I would have to say James and Ashi in the finals. It is really a toss up as to which one of those guys is having a better day. I think James is due but Ashi is a force to be reckoned with.
