Re: New to making finger gaunts...tips needed (pic heavy)

I have 1/4 neoprene padding for them, and I try not to block with my hands but an inevitable smack to the fingers is to be expected. :)

Hive I'll keep an eye out for another sign. If I come across one I'll be sure to let you know. I may sell you the one I have if you really need one. I'd just have to mull it over a bit.

New to making finger gaunts...tips needed (pic heavy)

Ok so i recently bought a pair of old used finger gaunts from Archibald here on the AA. They are non grounding and they needed a lot of tlc. I have worked out a gaunt using the same pattern as the ones i got from him but they didn't fit quite right so I'm back to the drawing board. Just some basic i...

Re: WTB: 30"ish round flat aluminum shield

It says it cuts easy with tin snips...my guess is that would be too thin. I had to cut my aluminum shield with a jig saw.

Re: WTB: 30"ish round flat aluminum shield

Try contacting someone from the highway department and see if they have one of their large Stop signs that might be damaged/dented or decommissioned. I got a sign that was knocked down from a guy at one of the local departments. Drilled a hole in the center, used a yard stick, marked my center hole ...

Re: Gauntlet kits fs *lowered prices.*

Wish I would have seen this kit before I bought the finger gaunts I have to rebuild. Would rather have just built a pair than have to rebuild a pair.

Re: padding finger gaunts

Ok this is what i got...this covered in a little wool fabric (so it doesn't look like foam if it peeks out a bit). Think that will be enough to keep ungrounding finger gaunts from destroying my fingers?Image

Re: padding finger gaunts

ok so i looked at the door knob hangers and almost got them but then i found a floor mat in the kitchen section of walmart that i think might work. It is 1/4 neoprene mat with a decorative cloth top on it. I think it is pretty similar to the neoprene Mark was talking about. does this sound about rig...

Re: padding finger gaunts

Well the ones I am working on don't ground but the knuckles are quite close to grounding. (kinda hard to explain). I have heard mousepad but that kinda seems too thin to me. I mean I have some 1/4 yoga mat that is better than te mouse pad but that too seems kinda iffy to me.

padding finger gaunts

how much padding is enough to keep from getting the broke/smashed/maimed fingers? I am rebuilding a pair of finger gaunts for myself and I want some padding that is enough to take the sting off of an accidental finger smack and enough to keep from incurring any major damage. What do you use and how ...

Re: Appearance - Fighting footwear

I stitched through the side of the sole to the bottom of the shoe. At an angle. Haven't had a seam fail yet. :). The sole is just soft enough to push a stitching awl straight through.
