Re: Appearance - Fighting footwear
Well I have been doing them for some trades here lately. But right now I'm just about out of leather. If someone is willing to front some leather I would be willing to make a pair or two for the leftover hide.
It's always easier bartering.

Re: Appearance - Fighting footwear
Easiest shoes to cover IMHO. And if done right they look almost exactly like real turn shoes. After I get some more leather I'm going to start working on another low top pair.

Re: Appearance - Fighting footwear
These are super easy to do, and the sole is soft enough that you can stitch directly through them. Oil/dye them and you are good to go...sorry i only have pics of them pre dye and oil. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a152/jdreadrocker/184905_1583193701058_1272183665_31261678_4603281_n.jpg http://i...

Re: SCA Kits that give a good impression
Sweet! i made the list...twice.
Awesome kits here. I still have a lot to do to get mine to where i want it, but i'm well on my way to getting there.
I must say the Rus kit of Greenshield's is a major inspiration of mine. one of these days i'm going to catch up to him.

Pics of fingergauntlets and how they are attached to gloves.
Ok so i recently got a used pair of finger gauntlets and they need a little work done. I have got to replace a rivet or two, re sew some parts, and attach them to gloves. What i need is some advice on how to sew them to the gloves, how to pad them correctly, and some pics of how they should look whi...

IMHO we should all strive for accuracy but at the same time this is anachronism so a little lenience should be given on all accounts. I mean if we aren't having fun we are doing it wrong.
. So joke, poke a little fun, and enjoy it for what it is.

Well I wear a large work glove. I say my hands are in the medium/large range though. How durable would the aluminum be to dents? That is one major reason I'm wanting the kydex ones.

Egg gauntlets?
So i'm bummed that i lost an auction on ebay for a pair and i was wondering if anyone here had a used pair just laying around. I've been pretty interested in these for a while due to their lighter weight and the super protectiveness that i have heard about from some of the locals.
many thanks,
Varukh

Re: Looking for light fighting gear for my wife...YAY!
Well what are you interested in? I will give just about any leather project a shot. I don't have enough for major armor pieces like breastplates or full legs, but I could possibly make some bazubands, gorgets, half gaunts, Thorvald style full gaunts, and pouches. Maybe some other odd and end pieces.

Problem is I don't have money to buy gear. I can make some leather goods to trade but cash is a rare thing in this house.

Re: Looking for light fighting gear for my wife...YAY!
Well I actually just talked to the marshal and he was the one who outbid me. Lol. He said it is an amazing find and that if I can get the one I was bidding on do it. He said the mask runs about $150 new and if no one else beats me up on bidding, then this mask will be quite the bargain. Fingers cros...

Re: Looking for light fighting gear for my wife...YAY!
I have talked to them about the gear she needs. I'm just looking for some trade gear here on the AA to get her started. I ended up losing the bid on the fencing mask. It was on a goodwill auction site and it was practically new. So I'm still on the lookout for one of those.

I am looking to get her the basics that she will need to get started. not worried about...

I have had a half dozen projects that could have turned out so much better if i had one. but for now i have to just make due wi...
