i have seen a sword frog with snaps that hold the loop closed around the sword. When in a big hurry just pull directly to the side and the snap pops open and you have your sword ready to go. Kinda cheesy but i guess it works.
Well i have finally convinced a buddy of mine to join up with the SCA...Yay!...and he is wanting to make Mongolian style suit of lamellar. I really want to help him out as much as possible and i could really use help finding some good pics of that style of lamellar so i can get some construction ide...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a152/jdreadrocker/1222610234_2CkDj-L.jpg I love that two-hander. The best things are the ones where you know what source they came from in an instant. those are the swords that they aptly named the "Choppas". they are awesome to watch in action.
well i had some butted maille, but it weighed so flipping much i had to let that stuff go. Sold it to a budy so he could get a nicer looking setup. my lamellar weighs roughly 12lbs...my maille was probably pushing 50+

Haa ha ha haaa! I saw those ducks. As i was armoring down there was a lady going around handing them out to some of the other ladies that were watching the battles. A good friend of mine made a lanyard and tied hers to her belt and wore it the rest of the weekend. there was writing on the bottoms of...
i will definitely try it out. I did leave the bottom row a lot looser than the other rows so that it will flex more when i walk or drop to my knees, but i did not really try it out with the helm and gorget on.
thanks for the heads up.
oh and thank you all for your kind words. you all keep me inspired and interested in our society. Thanks! I think your helmet needs wings on it, but that might just be me. -Ramius/Elias Bwa ha ha ha haaaa! I still have the wings in a box of scrap leather in my utility room. A memento of times past.
well some numbers for you...now this is not accounting what i have traded and have sold of my first few attempts at a kit to get to where i am now. Hjalmr helm $100 lamellar $40 leather that i made my bazubands, gauntlets out of: $75 Plastic barrel for hidden legs: free Clamshell gauntlets: $50 on A...
thank you Jestyr i got to crunching some numbers yesterday and i believe i am only in at around $300 for my entire kit so far. That is counting my garb, helm, armor, swords, mace, my clamshell gauntlets, and my shield. I have been really fortunate in the SCA and i have had a load of help from a lot ...
it weighs about 12lbs total and it is modeled after any of the pictures i could find online of lamellar. that and i did see somewhere some pics of some Russian lamellar. just tried to copy that a little.
oh and the plates in my ears are only going to get a little bigger.

Recipe: roughly 225 aluminum street sign plates cut for me by a local technical school, Over 2000 holes drilled and debured by hand, couple hundred feet of para cord, some some home made leather str...
thank you and yes Craker. I took an old coif that a buddy of mine had and turned it into an aventail. Only problem with it is that it is butted and it weighs a whole lot. I have to take my helm off quite often or i will end up with a sore neck at the end of the day.
ha! well i hope to meet you someday Ursor and have a fight or two.
that picture is not really what i normally look like. I'm kinda looking stoic and creep in that pic. I'm usually a lot less like a creepy stalker.
Hi Damon. I have been asked alot lately for pics of these in use, I will post pics here very soon, pics of the legs pointed and tied, also pics of the straps on the sides. PS thanks for posting pics of yours Varukh. Thank you PB any time Pitbull....that C-belt is one of my favorite pieces to date. ...
I wear this one in Arkansas and it feels like the face of the sun here in the summer. So far this one has worked out just fine for me though. I made it with 100% cotton batting sandwiched between a layer of canvas and linen. canvas outer and linen liner. I placed a little extra cotton batting in key...
If you look at Varukh's pic, you'll see how the legs are pointed more to the outside of his hips, or over the hip socket. Looking at yours it appears that they are strapped more over the front of your pelvis. What they are saying is that if you were move the straps more to the outside of your hips,...
yes i used 550 cord. keeps them really flexible and keeps the cbelt from binding when i am on my knees after getting legged.
on another note...Armourkris...those are some bad ass legs! make them yourself?
