I can't get it to resolve via DNS unless I use the Wolfstar.CA DNS servers (where alchemyarmory.com is hosted). I tried making a static host to get there, but it didn't work for me on Time Warner's network. Uhm. Short form: There appears something wrong at the hosting company level. Yep, they're &q...

Having a kit. I haven't had a complete kit of my own since selling my 14th C one. My plan for 2009 is having a complete kit of my own again AND- Making sure it is what they would have worn, and not some hidden, covered, plastic, scamalgamination of pseudo-armor. +Tasha, except that this one is goin...

Review: Andy Ward gauntlets
This is pretty much a cut and paste from another topic, but I thought it should be posted as a review so it will be found easier. Now, for the Frieman Score: Price= excellent =5 Quality=excellent=5 Customer Service=outstanding=5 On-time shipping=quicker than I expected=5 He has <a href="http://membe...

I thought Mr. Ward wasn't making gauntlets anymore, very neat. Anyone with a detailed review of his gauntlets? Mobility/protection etc? 125 is certainly reasonable. Anton I only have one fuzzy picture of my old Andy Ward gauntlets, but I'll try a review. He has <a href="http://members.armourarchive...

No we leave our hands unarmored for mobility and then cover them in a post-period basket so we can stick them out where they not only CAN get hit but we BLOCK with them. Or we armor our knees (but not our shins and feet) and then leave them exposed below our cavalry sized shields because fighting w...

Re: looking for inexpensive gauntlets
im looking for a pair of inexpensive gauntlets my price range is sixty five dollars or less. $65.00 or less. Even the plastic ones that I've found run about $150 I may just have to wait until I can build up more cash. I'm a fan of Andy Ward's SS gauntlets, they run about $125 including shipping fro...

Downhill bicycling has led to some real progress in personal protection items suitable for hidden armour. I got a pair of the Roach Rally FR legs and I really like them. I'll need to add one lame of kydex to the top band to protect the knee when knee-fighting , but it should be easily done. That par...

I'm sorry I didn't see this thread earlier, my search-fu must be weak. I'm facing similar obstacles - R.A., ruptured disk, and the loss of most of my right lung to cancer. Still, with the right protection and preparation, I think I can fight again. Most of what I've ordered as hidden protection (NOT...

Those are some good answers, Mord. I like them even better because I agree. 7. The bias of the archaeologist(s). Extra chest protection for women fighters
<a href="http://www.awma.com/index.cfm/action/productdetail/Product_ID/11313.htm">Asian World Martial Arts</a> had this featured on their main page, I thought it might be of interest to women fighters who wear hidden armour or just want some extra protection. like I said I love the idea of a big hammer, the shear force that it cn inflict and the intimidation factor are great. I'm 6'3 and 360lbs (about a 250 lean body mass), I doubt many people would rush right up to someone like me with a huge maul. Let me disabuse you of that notion. SCA heavies are ve...

Good MIG/TIG gloves for gauntlet base?
I'm looking for gloves to use rigging a set of SS mitten gauntlets, and a pair of same to add Wisby-style plates & padding (neoprene under Kydex, covered with leather) to make a replacement for the gloves/half-gauntlet setup. Some years ago I found a pair of light gray MIG gloves that would have...

I'm prone to headaches, so I'm picky about padding and use more than most folks. I like a snug fit, but not tight enough that it keeps pressure on my head. The best padding I've used was thick mattress foam duct-taped into an oversized helmet shape. It compressed a lot when the helm went on, and it ...

I ordered some of the helmet lining material from Kingslance:
http://stores.ebay.com/Kingslance
The helm I ordered was too small and had to be returned so I haven't been able to try it, but it looks promising. It's a firm foam (like camping pads) bonded to a thin layer of softer foam which is covered in a soft fabric.
