No finish is added, the shoes are the bare natural leather. They will get dirty fairly quickly because of it I think too. If you leave them natural, be sure to put something on them as well.

The leather is actually cow hide, not goat. It does have nice looks to it, quite a bit of texture. I am glad you like them.

The sizes are running right with US sizes. There is a little stretch in the golden brown color due to the leather type. Not so much give in the natural leather.

The Vibram sole is a rubber sole with grooves running side to side. The leather is a 3-4 ounce leather, hand sewn. With the vibram soles, I think they would make a great fighting boot. Without the rubber sole, they may be a bit slick as we usually tend to fight in grassy areas.

I got my boots today, they look great! I wear a 9.5-10 and ordered a 10, they fit fine and are slightly loose. So I'd say they are just about right for sizing. The leather seems to be elastic enough to fit in my foot. I wear a 13E and have plenty of room in the 2 toggle version. I can't tell you about any of the other sizes or designs. It seems the 14th century and Norse 2 Toggle are made much the same.

The natural leather shoes take dye well. I dyed up a pair today, black. Sprayed a top coat on them for the shine and to keep them from bleeding through. You shouldn't have any problem at all with dying them.
